Tokyo Metropolitan Government Calls for Teen Reporters

In response to the growing desire among middle and high school students for career exploration opportunities, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is implementing a new program this year. This initiative will match students with businesses and organizations to offer invaluable career experience that will help shape their futures. As part of this program, the government is inviting applications for a unique role: the "Teen Reporter."

What is a Teen Reporter?

The Teen Reporter will participate in various career experience activities offered by companies and then write articles from a student’s perspective. This role is designed for enthusiastic young learners who wish to gain insights into different careers while also honing their journalistic skills. The reporters will capture their experiences, interview management, and highlight the initiatives of the participating organizations.

Recruitment Overview

1. Application Period:
- From May 30, 2025 (Friday) to June 18, 2025 (Wednesday).

2. Number of Participants:
- Approximately 18 students (middle or high school students residing or studying in Tokyo).

3. Participating Companies:
- A list of partner companies will be provided separately (see the official PDF).

4. Activities Included:
- Pre-Workshop: A workshop will be held on July 24 (Thursday) where participants will learn the basics of reporting and article writing.
- Career Experience Participation: Students will engage with businesses on specific dates (refer to the attached document for the schedule).
- Article Writing Workshop: Another workshop for article writing is scheduled for August 31 (Sunday).
- Article Creation: Following the workshops, participants are expected to create and submit their articles via email starting in September.

Detailed information regarding the schedule, locations, and additional support during the activities will be handled by the Tokyo Teen Career Experience Project Office, ensuring a smooth experience for the reporters.

5. Selection of Teen Reporters:
- Applicants will be chosen based on their stated reasons for applying, and selections will be finalized by mid-July 2025.
