Huawei Unveils the World's First Triple Foldable Smartphone at MWC 2025

On March 3rd, 2025, Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicked off in Barcelona, showcasing innovations from leading technology brands. Among the standout exhibitors was Huawei, who revealed their remarkable Mate XT, touted as the world's first triple foldable smartphone. This device marks a significant advancement in smartphone technology, featuring proprietary hinge and display technologies that allow it to fold both inwards and outwards.

The Huawei booth at MWC 2025 was bustling with attendees eager to experience the features of the Mate XT, which boasts a camera with ten-stop adjustable aperture. The launch highlighted a 3D presentation that displayed the phone's capabilities without requiring special glasses, making it easier for visitors to appreciate its design and functionality.

In addition to the Mate XT, Huawei showcased other members of the HUAWEI Mate 70 series, which includes the Ultra Chroma camera, known for its extraordinary color accuracy. The displays allowed visitors to interact with various camera features, such as AI editing and multiple exposure settings within the Intelligence Scenario Zone. The booth also presented modern materials used in the phone’s construction, exemplified by an interactive demonstration where guests could cut ice using a sheet of graphene to visualize its exceptional thermal conductivity.

A significant portion of the exhibition focused on Huawei's wearable technology, featuring the HUAWEI TrueSense System. Visitors were able to participate in simulations that showcased how the system monitors health metrics precisely and in real time. Utilizing the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5, users could compare their heart rates against those of professional athletes, providing insights into fitness tracking.

Huawei also introduced the HUAWEI WATCH D2, marking a milestone as the first wearable device approved for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring directly from the wrist. This device epitomizes Huawei’s aim to merge health technology with fashionable design, giving users smart options without sacrificing style. Following past success in the wearable segment, Huawei reported record sales in the first three quarters of 2024, emphasizing their strong standing in the consumer electronics market.

The GoPaint Zone attracted considerable attention as well, showcasing artworks created by global artists using the GoPaint software compatible with the HUAWEI MatePad. This professional painting tool is powered by the advanced FangTian Painting Engine 2.0. Premiering at MWC was the new 13.2-inch OLED Paper Matte screen for the MatePad Pro—a revolutionary feature aimed at both professionals and beginners in digital artistry, that minimizes reflection and delivers vibrant colors akin to drawing on paper. It works seamlessly with the HUAWEI M-Pencil, which can detect 10,000 levels of pressure sensitivity, empowering artists with a wider range of tools in GoPaint. With WPS Office pre-installed and a user interface resembling that of a laptop, the MatePad Pro supports multitasking effortlessly, enhancing the productivity of creative professionals.

Huawei's exhibits at MWC 2025 reflect its commitment to integrating innovation with daily life. As users engage with cutting-edge technologies, including foldable phones and sophisticated wearables, Huawei is poised to redefine how we interact with our devices in 2025 and beyond.
