Endeavor Health Celebrates Fifth Magnet Redesignation for Nursing Excellence Across Five Hospitals

Endeavor Health: A Leader in Nursing Excellence

Endeavor Health, a prominent name in healthcare, has exciting news that emphasizes its commitment to excellence in nursing. Five of its esteemed hospitals—Edward Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, and Skokie Hospital—have proudly achieved Magnet® redesignation. This prestigious recognition, provided by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, is the highest honor for nursing excellence in the country, underscoring Endeavor's dedication to superior patient care and nursing practices.

The journey toward Magnet designation is not easy and is often described as a rigorous yet rewarding process. Research consistently shows that Magnet-designated hospitals tend to provide better patient outcomes—including shorter hospital stays, increased patient and nurse satisfaction, and notably lower mortality rates. These hospitals also demonstrate higher nurse retention rates, signifying a positive and supportive environment for healthcare professionals.

John Tressa, DNP, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, the System Chief Nursing Executive at Endeavor Health, expressed pride in this remarkable achievement. He stated, "This accomplishment is a testament to the extraordinary compassion, expertise, and collaboration of our nurses. Magnet recognition symbolizes the shared input from our Clinical Nurses regarding patient care, professional development, and ongoing improvements in achieving outstanding outcomes."

Remarkably, Edward Hospital is celebrating its fifth consecutive Magnet designation, a significant milestone that acknowledges not only their commitment to excellence but also their remarkable achievements in nursing practice and patient outcomes. Meanwhile, the other four hospitals—Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park, and Skokie—are honored to have received their fourth consecutive Magnet designations.

The Magnet designation process emphasizes excellence in nursing practice, leadership, and innovative patient care—a trifecta that ensures the highest standards in patient treatment. Achieving redesignation involves extensive engagement and collaboration across all levels of hospital leadership and staff, making it a comprehensive team effort.

In continuing its legacy of excellence, Endeavor Health is actively pursuing Magnet redesignation for its other hospitals—Elmhurst, Northwest Community, and Swedish—which are currently in the application process. Results from these efforts are anticipated in 2025, reinforcing Endeavor's commitment to a culture deeply rooted in evidence-based practice, professional growth, and a nurturing environment for nurses.
