Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation Unveils the 2026 PFF Walk Season

The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) has recently announced its schedule for the upcoming 2026 PFF Walk season, proudly marking a decade of this impactful national fundraising initiative dedicated to supporting those affected by pulmonary fibrosis (PF) and interstitial lung disease (ILD). Over the last ten years, the PFF Walk has successfully raised more than $7.2 million, which has significantly contributed to advancing research, advocacy, education, and providing essential resources for patients and their families.

A National Movement

Initially launched in Chicago in 2017, the PFF Walk has expanded rapidly, transforming into a nationwide movement that unites patients, caregivers, families, and supporters. This year alone, more than 18,000 walkers and 2,100 teams have participated, illuminating the journey of those navigating life with PF and ILD. According to Seth Klein, Chief Development Officer of the PFF, the progress of this initiative is a testament to the remarkable strength of the pulmonary fibrosis community. The 2026 season promises to reach even more individuals by expanding into new cities, including Tampa, Florida, alongside returning favorites such as Chicago and New York City.

The schedule for the 2026 PFF Walk is as follows:

Personal Stories of Impact

Colleen Attwell, whose family has been personally impacted by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, recalls how they began walking back in Chicago for the inaugural event. Along with her husband, Martin, they helped raise over $100,000 in honor of their fathers, believing firmly in the power of community and shared purpose. “The Walk is a constant reminder that no one is alone in this fight,” Attwell shared, showcasing the personal connections that fuel the initiative.

Currently, over 250,000 Americans are living with pulmonary fibrosis or interstitial lung disease. These conditions pose severe health challenges that can lead to permanent lung damage, making breathing increasingly difficult. Through fundraising efforts like the PFF Walk, the foundation aims to facilitate research, enrich community support, advocate for patient needs, and enhance education for families navigating these serious health issues.

The PFF extends its gratitude to this year’s event sponsors, including Accredo by Evernorth, Boehringer Ingelheim, CVS Specialty, Liquidia Technologies, Inc., and United Therapeutics. Their support significantly bolsters the Foundation’s mission to provide hope and change for those affected by these life-altering diseases.
