Global Collaborations Accelerate Ahead of BIO 2026 with Chinese Innovations Taking Center Stage

A New Era of Collaboration at BIOSeedin Summit

On July 8, 2026, the BIOSeedin Summer Innovation Partnering Summit was held in San Diego, heralding the upcoming BIO International Convention 2026. Hosted by bioSeedin and supported by leading strategic partners like Thermo Fisher Scientific and ACROBiosystems, this unique event served as an international roadshow dedicated to highlighting China's innovative assets in biotechnology. This summit attracted significant global interest, with over 350 registrants and more than 200 attendees from more than 30 countries and regions, all eager to explore collaborative opportunities and advance the global reach of Chinese therapeutic developments.

Opening Insights and Sessions

The summit commenced with an engaging address from Ms. Jenny Zhao, the Co-founder and CEO of bioSeedin. Her inspiring speech set a collaborative and forward thinking tone for the day's discussions, which were organized into two major sessions: one focusing on early-stage strategy and innovation, while the other centered around late-stage global ecosystems and emerging trends.

Session 1: Early-Stage Strategy and Innovation
The first session emphasized the importance of strategic asset evaluation and effective licensing strategies. A panel comprising global pharmaceutical leaders shared valuable insights, stressing that licensing should be viewed not just as a transactional tool but as a means for long-term value creation. They noted that many collaborations falter because of weak links between biology and disease, inadequacies in biomarker strategies, or suboptimal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles. Furthermore, multinational corporations (MNCs) are increasingly viewing China not just as a low-cost market but as a core source of innovation. To thrive, Chinese biotechnology firms must present compatible GCP/GLP-compliant data and relevant trials that are designed with global standards in mind.

On the regulatory and operational side, the panel highlighted the dichotomy between mergers and acquisitions (M&A) versus licensing strategies. The consensus was clear—while M&A serves as a long-term corporate strategy, licensing can be an initial step towards building trust before a potential acquisition occurs. Success in these endeavors hinges on rigorous scientific, operational, and commercial due diligence, aligned valuations, and streamlined integration processes, particularly in cross-border engagements involving China.

This session featured insights from leading companies including Antengene, GeneScience Pharmaceutical, and Salsola Therapeutics, offering attendees a rich tapestry of strategic perspectives.

Session 2: Late-Stage Global Ecosystems and Innovation Trends
The second session shifted focus to late-stage assets and the evolution of global ecosystems. Here, panelists stressed that in the face of global complexities, it is the scientific rigor and data integrity that serve as pillars. China has emerged as a significant player that demands dedicated strategies from major pharmaceutical firms, while AI proves to be an instrumental ally in research and development spanning from target discovery to clinical design. However, it's highlighted that AI’s capabilities cannot make up for deficiencies in basic scientific understanding.

This segment concluded with impactful presentations from companies such as HighTide Therapeutics, Constimulus Bio, CanWell Pharma, Jiangsu Chia Tai Fenghai Pharmaceutical, Amphiprotech, and VyBio, showcasing the breadth and depth of innovations.

Networking and Future Possibilities

Underpinning the summit's success was the bioSeedin 1on1 Partnering System, which functioned as an essential bridge for fostering business connections. This system facilitated nearly 200 dynamic, face-to-face meetings, fostering vibrant exchanges and collaboration opportunities beyond formal sessions.

As the event wrapped up, attendees were energized and well-prepared for the upcoming BIO International Convention. bioSeedin expressed heartfelt gratitude to all speakers, partners, and participants who contributed to the summit’s success. They look forward to more fruitful conversations and partnerships as they prepare to reconvene at the JPM Healthcare Conference 2027, continuing to foster a global exchange of innovative ideas and strategies in the therapeutic landscape.
