This experience, aptly named 'Adult Kindergarten Experience,' breaks away from the mundane, inviting participants to engage freely in artistic expression.

Morning Excursion: Art and Play

At 9:00 AM, adults will arrive at the kindergarten, ready to leave their inhibitions behind. Initially assigned name tags, they will join in morning songs to set the stage for the day's activities. The garden, resembling a small forest, will serve as their creative playground. Armed with vibrant paints, participants will engage in art projects under dappled sunlight, inspired by the simplicity and joy of childhood creativity. There is no expectation for artistic perfection, nor is there any pressure to create something useful; the goal is to lose oneself in the joy of the moment.

The day continues with a shift to the cultural hub, 'Hobitto Mura,' located near the station. Here, participants can enjoy a reflection session and share their experiences over an organic lunch, reminiscent of a delightful field trip. A beautiful images of adults covered in paint will be a highlight of this unique event.

The Inspiration Behind the Initiative

The concept for 'Adult Kindergarten Experience' emerged from a silent yearning among parents during a pre-event held earlier in July. In a special session designed for parents of currently enrolled children, the emphasis was on expressing various scents through art. Initially filled with chatter, the atmosphere soon shifted to focused silence as participants lost themselves in creation, covered in pastel colors. Feedback from this event indicated that everyone would love to participate again. Many adults expressed their desire to reconnect with their inner child, sharing sentiments about the freedom of expression without judgement. The overwhelming response indicated the importance of such experiences for adults.

Program Schedule

• - 9:00-11:30 AM: Art activity at Takara Kindergarten, led by artist Yoko Imai.
• - 11:30 AM-12:30 PM: Reflection dialogue at Hobitto Mura, with facilitator Masato Tahara. The group will enjoy an 8-minute stroll through Nishihiratsuka's lovely streets.
• - 12:30-1:30 PM: Optional organic lunch at 'Balthazar' restaurant, where adults will enjoy the meal under the sprawling trees in the kindergarten.

Sayumi Yoshizawa, the third generation head of Takara Kindergarten and organizer of this initiative, expressed the necessity of creating a space where adults can experience the joy of creation. Unlike children who embrace the act of creating irrespective of the outcome, adults often seek utility and validation, losing touch with their natural inclinations to explore creatively. The event is designed to reverse this trend, allowing participants to enjoy concepts liberally and engage without the fear of judgement.

As part of the 'Mirai no Ba Project,' Yoshizawa aims to instill the understanding that creativity should not be limited by age. The project promotes innovation that is not dependent on societal validation—essential for adults in today’s chaotic environment. The first session, 'Re:Five,' aims to revitalize parents' perspectives and explore the passions of youth, encouraging a spirit of exploration and growth.

In promoting future iterations of 'Re:Five,' the program will explore various themes, including physical activities, music, and games—activities that children love, now offered for adults to rediscover in their own authentic way.
