Tomorrow.Mobility 2026: A Global Forum for Urban Mobility Innovation

Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress 2026

The Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC) is set to take place from November 3 to 5, 2026, at the renowned Fira Barcelona Gran Via. This international conference is expected to gather more than 240 experts from various fields, including urban planning, transportation, and technology, focused on advancing sustainable urban mobility solutions.

Keynote Speakers and Participants

Among the prominent speakers will be Lukas Neckermann, a well-respected mobility thinker who coined the term "mobility revolution." He is also a co-founder of Urban Places Lab and has authored several books on the subject. Joining him will be Teresa Riesgo, the Secretary General for Innovation in Spain, and Axel Volkery from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). Their participation underscores the event's commitment to exploring innovative strategies and solutions for future transportation challenges.

Riesgo will lead a roundtable discussion focused on how mobility pioneers can navigate an era filled with uncertainties, while Volkery will elaborate on the evolution of public transportation in response to changing commuter habits, emphasizing the need for these systems to remain attractive and relevant.

Other notable attendees include Daryl Barron, the Lord Mayor of Dublin; Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS; Lisandro Perotti, Deputy Secretary for Mobility Management in Buenos Aires; Toks Omishakin, the Secretary of the California State Transportation Agency; and Tanja Dik, the General Director of Johan Cruijff Arena.

Public Transport's Role in Urban Life

A recent survey conducted by EIT Urban Mobility revealed significant insights about public transportation utilization in urban settings. The study involved responses from 1,503 adults across Barcelona, Munich, and Bucharest, highlighting the central role of public transport as 56% of respondents indicated they use it to commute to work or university—surpassing the 52% who rely on private vehicles. This survey also indicated that commuters who use public transport are twice as likely to incorporate walking into their journeys.

The attributes that users most appreciate in public transport include safety, reliability, and comfort. However, the study also identified some discrepancies in commuter experiences. For instance, traffic congestion was a major concern for car users, while public transport users expressed dissatisfaction with service reliability. More than 41% of respondents noted feeling completely drained upon arriving home, which presents a challenge for urban planners looking to enrich the living experience within cities.

Knowledge Sharing and Innovative Solutions

The primary focus of the TMWC is to foster groundbreaking discussions and share expertise among urban mobility stakeholders. The goal is to drive collaboration between public administrations and private companies to develop sustainable, enjoyable, and efficient urban transport systems.

In conjunction with TMWC, attendees will also have access to several other concurrent conferences, including Smart City Expo World, Tomorrow.Blue Economy, and the Barcelona Cybersecurity Summit, creating a rich environment for networking and knowledge exchange. Together, these events will feature over 1,100 exhibitors and attract more than 27,000 participants, amplifying the impact of findings and discussions on sustainable urban mobility practices.

As cities around the globe continue to grapple with increasing populations and traffic congestion, events like the Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress critical in paving the way for innovative urban transport solutions that can enhance quality of life and sustainability in urban areas.
