New Webinar Series Empowers Michigan's Small Auto Suppliers to Adapt and Grow

In an effort to bolster the growth of small manufacturers in Michigan, a new webinar series has been launched focusing on the Michigan Auto Supplier Transition Program (MAST-P). Organized by Automation Alley and the Michigan Manufacturers Association, these virtual sessions aim to provide key insights and support for manufacturers eager to diversify into new industries while strengthening their existing operations. This initiative comes at a time when the manufacturing landscape is rapidly evolving, influenced by changes in global supply chains and competition in various fields such as aerospace, electric vehicles, and advanced mobility.

The Michigan Auto Supplier Transition Program is a comprehensive statewide initiative aimed at supporting small manufacturers without any associated costs. Through these webinars, attendees will receive detailed information about eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the range of support services available to participants. The sessions are tailored not only for small manufacturers looking to expand but also for economic development organizations and industry partners interested in accessing valuable resources for their communities.

During a recent announcement, Tom Kelly, Executive Director and CEO of Automation Alley, emphasized the significance of this program. He stated, "Michigan's manufacturing economy continues to evolve as companies navigate supply chain shifts, global competition, and emerging opportunities across industries... The Michigan Auto Supplier Transition Program was created to help small manufacturers adapt, grow and compete in this changing environment."

This program is especially crucial as small manufacturers in Michigan prepare for future challenges and opportunities. Rodney Parkkonen, Senior Business Strategy Manager at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, reiterated this point by saying, "MAST-P provides small manufacturers with access to resources and expert support that can help them strengthen operations, explore new markets, and identify future growth opportunities."

Scheduled for June 24, July 21, 22, and 23, the webinars provide flexible time slots, ensuring accessibility for different participants. They are designed for:
  • - Small manufacturers keen on understanding how to establish a foothold in new industries and bolster their business operations.
  • - Economic development organizations and ecosystem partners looking for resources to assist local manufacturers.
  • - Companies curious about how to access the technical and business support offered through MAST-P.

Manufacturers looking to participate are encouraged to not only apply for the program but also to attend these upcoming webinars to gain insights into available resources and eligibility requirements.
