SOLV Energy Opens Applications for 2026 PowerUp! Scholarship
SOLV Energy, a front-runner in the power infrastructure sector, has officially opened up applications for its fourth annual PowerUp! Renewable Energy Scholarship. This initiative is designed to support high school seniors who are enthusiastic about contributing to a more sustainable and fair energy landscape. This year, the program will be providing a total of six scholarships, each worth $1,500.
George Hershman, CEO of SOLV Energy, emphasizes the growing demand for a robust and diverse workforce as the energy sector evolves. He states, “As the nation's energy needs grow, so does the demand for a skilled and diverse workforce. SOLV Energy is committed to meeting that demand through sustained investment in education, community partnerships, and industry collaboration.” This statement underlines the organization’s dedication to nurturing future leaders in renewable energy and ensuring greater access to educational and career opportunities.
In addition to the scholarships, SOLV Energy is consistently working to expand STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning opportunities and clean energy career pathways for K-12 students. Their efforts extend beyond scholarships as they engage in curriculum partnerships with local schools located near their project sites and have developed long-term collaborations within the Navajo Nation. They aim to amplify representation in energy careers, making sure that underserved communities also benefit from the renewable energy sector.
Notably, among the awards given this year, one scholarship is designated for an Indigenous high school senior, reinforcing SOLV Energy's commitment to inclusivity and representation within the industry.
The review panel for the 2026 scholarship will comprise experts from Clēnera, Sol Systems, and WTEC Energy, organizations that have collaborated with SOLV Energy on various workforce and student engagement initiatives. Moreover, these partners were also involved in the creation of the ‘Skip the Grid’ initiative, which acts as an immersive clean energy learning experience for students.
