AREA____LUCE and FORMEI: A Fusion of Cultures in a Unique Collaborative Pop-up

Discover the Unique Collaborative Pop-up by AREA____LUCE and FORMEI

The upcoming collaborative pop-up event between AREA____LUCE and FORMEI promises an extraordinary experience where different cultural aesthetics converge into a single space. This unique occasion will take place at ART-1 building in Shibuya, Tokyo, from October 31 to November 2, 2025. Visitors can expect not only a showcase of AREA____LUCE's standard collection but also intriguing objects that stem from their research projects.

AREA____LUCE: A Journey Through Material and Emotion

Founded with a deep curiosity about materials and the emotional resonance of spaces, AREA____LUCE is a design studio that explores how volume and space influence human feelings and perceptions. Their philosophy is rooted in the idea that "environment shapes behavior". By focusing on the expression of volume as both a function and an emotional response, they beautifully blend industrial precision with sculptural presence, emphasizing the tension and harmony that arises in between.

FORMEI: Redefining Design Through Timeless Objects

On the other hand, FORMEI, whose name symbolizes the essence of forms and timeless designs, brings a unique perspective to the event. This brand deeply reflects on the principles of crafting, creating products that are both sculptural and utilitarian. Each piece is designed to be not only visually appealing when placed in a space but also to foster a deeper emotional connection over time, enriching everyday life. Their approach encapsulates minimalist forms and carefully selected materials, merging traditional craft techniques with modern design to create furniture that transcends time.

Featured Artists in FORMEI’s Select Collection

In addition to their primary offerings, FORMEI will showcase works by notable creators such as Masaki Iwasa and Shinsaku Nakazono. Iwasa, a ceramic artist from Ehime, specializes in unique creations that involve traditional Bizen ware techniques, enhancing them with lacquer and gold leaf applications. Meanwhile, Nakazono, who hails from Hyogo, strives to explore new values between craft and art through his distinctive textures and materials, producing works that encourage a tactile connection.
