Truecaller AB Reports Strong Revenue and User Growth
Truecaller AB, the foremost global platform dedicated to contact verification and blocking unwanted communications, unveiled its impressive interim report for the first half of 2025. The numbers speak for themselves, showcasing a 9% increase in net sales, which translates to SEK 496.4 million in reported figures. When adjusted for constant currencies, the growth is even more remarkable, hitting a 21% increase.
Revenue Streams Flourishing
All segments contributing to Truecaller’s revenue have exhibited growth, with advertising revenues escalating by 11% and subscription-based revenues soaring by 45%. Truecaller for Business, which caters to corporate clients, showed a 53% increase in revenue. Moreover, the company's EBITDA—Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization—excluding incentives, rose by 20%, with a commendable EBITDA margin of 42.6%, a significant increase from last year.
Truecaller’s CEO, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, expressed his satisfaction with the company's continuous organic growth. He highlighted that this marks the fourth consecutive quarter with both revenue and user growth, gaining an additional 15 million monthly active users in just this quarter alone.
Milestones Achieved
A significant milestone was reached as Truecaller surpassed 3 million paying subscribers, with more than 1 million of those on iOS devices. Compared to the previous year, the subscriber count increased by 28%, and there was an impressive 25% growth in iOS users within this single quarter.
Such a boost in the user base clearly illustrates Truecaller’s growing importance and relevance in today’s digital communication landscape. The company also noted that currency fluctuations, particularly the strong performance of the Swedish Krona, had a notable impact on reported revenue and profit—as most revenues are recorded in foreign currencies.
Ad Business Dynamics
Despite some challenges, particularly geopolitical uncertainties affecting advertising demand, the company is seeing stabilization in its ad prices. Truecaller has been proactive, focusing on enhancing its direct sales capabilities and expanding its offering to solidify its market standing in programmatic advertising, recently adding eight global demand partners.
The launch of innovative advertising units, such as the Truecaller Masthead, allows advertisers a dominant presence on users' incoming call screens, enhancing visibility. Truecaller also launched Truecaller Play, consolidating their video advertisement services under one umbrella. Furthermore, an internal AI recommendations suite is in soft launch, with initial tests yielding promising results in improving click-through rates.
Continued Expansion for Truecaller for Business
Revenue from Truecaller for Business has been a noteworthy growth driver, increasing by 53% in constant currencies. Their portfolio, including services such as the Customer Experience (CX) platform Verified Business and other emerging risk products, is performing well. This reinforces the company’s capabilities in providing unique insights and data intelligence to sectors like banking and finance.
Looking Ahead
The optimistic outlook from CEO Jhunjhunwala suggests a positive trajectory for Truecaller, supported by encouraging trends in user acquisition, advancements in advertising capacities, and a robust service portfolio.
