Manny Halley, known for his work on notable projects such as Dutch and SoulMates, is making waves in the entertainment industry with the announcement of a new television series inspired by the popular True to the Game franchise. This series will be adapted from the New York Times bestselling novels by Terri Woods, a move that promises to bring the captivating story to a new audience.

The True to the Game series has captivated fans since the first film was released in 2017, showcasing a thrilling love story between Gena and Quadir. Gena is portrayed as a fierce young woman whose life takes a turn when she falls for Quadir, a charming and strategic kingpin. Their relationship ignites a passionate yet perilous journey, exposing the complexities of love entwined with a dangerous lifestyle. As Quadir seeks to abandon his life of crime for love, he soon discovers that escaping this world is fraught with peril and betrayal.

The upcoming series will feature an impressive cast, including Sierra Capri from On My Block, Bentley Green known for White Men Can't Jump, and veteran actresses like Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day) and Angell Conwell (The Young and the Restless). The ensemble will also include Carl Anthony Payne II, recognized from Martin and Young Dylan.

The script for the series is penned by Cas Sigers-Beedles, and it will be helmed by a talented group of directors including Salvatore Sclafani, Preston A. Whitmore II, and Vivica A. Fox herself. Manny Halley will serve as the executive producer, continuing his involvement through his production company, A Manny Halley Productions. Filming is set to commence in Los Angeles this coming fall, further heightening anticipation among fans and newcomers alike.

The origins of True to the Game began with its initial movie release, which starred a talented cast including Columbus Short, Erica Peeples, and Jeremy Meeks. Following the success of the first film, two additional sequels were released in 2020 and 2021, earning a dedicated audience across streaming platforms and cable networks. All films were produced under the Imani Media Group, and distributed by Faith Media Distribution, which included limited theatrical releases.

Sierra Capri, Bentley Green, Vivica A. Fox, and Angell Conwell are well-represented by various talent agencies, ensuring their careers remain on an upward trajectory as they take on these leading roles in True to the Game.

Apart from the True to the Game franchise, Halley recently concluded production on another project in Los Angeles titled Lot Patrol, a comedy series he created in collaboration with Ernest Dancy starring DeRay Davis, Tamera Kissen, and various stand-up comedians.
