Empowering Black Health: 2025 Summit & Expo Set for Atlanta Wellness Revolution

Black Health Matters to Host 2025 Health Summit & Expo in Atlanta

Black Health Matters, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes for Black communities, is set to host its 13th annual winter Health Summit & Expo on February 22, 2025. This exciting event will take place at the Loudermilk Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST, with a virtual option available to participants nationwide.

The summit is designed to engage community members and provide essential health resources at no cost. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to meet healthcare professionals, explore various wellness resources, and take important steps toward managing their health in a supportive environment. The event promises to be informative, interactive, and empowering.

Focus on Health Disparities

Co-hosted by three esteemed figures in the field—Dr. Rashad Richey, Dr. Maria Boynton, and Dr. Gregory Lunceford—the summit will shine a spotlight on the significant health disparities affecting Black communities. Attendees will benefit from expert-led discussions on topics such as nutrition, mental health, chronic diseases, and the importance of participation in clinical trials.

One of the most notable features of this year’s summit is the Clinical Trials Corner, a new initiative aimed at increasing awareness and participation in clinical research among Black Americans. This corner will demystify the clinical trials process, offering attendees insights and strategies to engage in research that reflects their health needs. Given that Black Americans represent only 5% of clinical trial participants, despite being nearly 14% of the U.S. population, this initiative seeks to address the critical issue of underrepresentation in medical research.

Comprehensive Health Assessments

Participants will also have the opportunity to access health assessments valued at over $1,000. This includes a Blueprint for Wellness Full Panel Blood Screening, carotid artery exams, and testing for hypertension. Vaccinations for COVID-19, flu, and RSV will also be offered, ensuring attendees leave with a comprehensive understanding of their health status and actionable steps they can take to improve their wellness.

Community Collaboration

The event is made possible through the generous support of corporate sponsors, including Bristol Myers Squibb, Gilead, and Merck, among others. This collaboration not only highlights the importance of corporate engagement in community health but also enhances the summit’s resources and offerings.

A Call to Action

Roslyn Young Daniels, Founder and CEO of Black Health Matters, emphasizes the significance of this gathering. "Our summit isn't just an event — it's a call to action for Black communities to reclaim their health and rewrite their wellness stories," she asserts. With the platform to educate and empower, this summit contemplates the future of health equity as a tangible goal rather than a distant aspiration.
