JETSET Pilates Launches First Studio in Virginia
JETSET Pilates, the rapidly expanding reformer Pilates franchise, is gearing up to open its first Virginia studio this November in Tysons. This marks an exciting milestone for the brand as it makes its entry into the state, with plans for further growth throughout Virginia.
Located at the vibrant The Boro, a popular hub for living, working, and leisure, the Tysons studio will feature 16 reformers and has already begun presales, achieving impressive numbers with hundreds of founding memberships expected before the doors even open. The Tysons location serves as a stepping stone for a larger strategy, which includes the upcoming openings of two additional studios in Midlothian and Ashburn over the next few months.
James Temple, the co-founder of Vertex Fitness Group, expressed his excitement regarding the new venture: "Virginia is home for us," he stated. Temple's roots in Suffolk and his significant business experience within the state reflect a genuine commitment to the local community and its fitness needs. His partner, COO Christy Rowe, who raised her family nearby, also emphasizes the connection to the area.
The intention behind these openings is clear; Temple elaborated, "Tysons is our anchor here, but it was never meant to be a single opening. We are establishing a network of studios across Virginia, allowing members to seamlessly find classes near both their homes and workplaces." Together with Vertex's shared services team, each studio will be managed by a locally hired team and is expected to generate around 60 jobs, including key roles such as general managers and certified instructors.
Bertus Albertse, the President and CEO of JETSET Pilates, praised the leadership team's proven track record in scaling businesses, which he believes will translate effectively to their operations in Virginia. “That kind of discipline, data-driven execution is exactly what we want leading our growth in this market," he noted.
The Tysons, Midlothian, and Ashburn locations represent the first phase of a larger deal between JETSET and Vertex, which aims to establish a total of 25 studios across Virginia, Chicago, and the Twin Cities. This ambitious plan is underpinned by the expertise of Vertex's leadership: James Temple and Mo Khalil, who have extensive experience in franchise operations, managing over 100 Mathnasium learning centers collectively.
JETSET Pilates, integrating high-energy music with a dynamic 50-minute workout, has cultivated a loyal following across diverse age groups and fitness levels. Since its inception in Miami in 2010 and subsequent franchising in 2022, it has expanded rapidly, with over 400 locations either operational or in development across the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
Before the Tysons location officially opens its doors, JETSET has been engaging the local community through “JETSET on the Mat,” a series of pop-up classes and private sessions. These initiatives aim to build relationships with local businesses and communities, establishing brand awareness ahead of its launch. Moreover, founding members will have exclusive access to preview classes leading up to the grand opening, which will include a celebratory ribbon-cutting event featuring community partners.
