Oxford Financial Group Welcomes Two New Managing Directors to Enhance Investment Platform
In a strategic move to strengthen its investment capabilities, Oxford Financial Group, Ltd.™ has recently appointed Scott K. Ryan, MBA, CFA, and Nicholas O. Detmer, MBA, CFA, CAIA, as Managing Directors and partners. This important development comes as the firm aims to enhance its private markets team, known as Regent Street. With extensive experience in institutional investment, both Ryan and Detmer are set to take on crucial roles in sourcing, conducting due diligence, and overseeing primary fund commitments, along with co-investment opportunities, including working with emerging managers.
Scott K. Ryan brings over 11 years of experience from the Indiana University Foundation, where he held the position of Senior Director of Investments. His expertise in managing a substantial portion of the foundation’s roughly $3.8 billion endowment involved fostering in-house due diligence and developing relationships with general partners focused across global buyouts, venture capital, real assets, and hedge funds. His robust academic background includes both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University, along with being a CFA charterholder and currently serves as Chair of the Institutional Advisory Panel at the CFA Society Indianapolis.
On the other hand, Nicholas O. Detmer has transitioned to Oxford from Aksia, where he operated as a Managing Director, advising considerable institutional investors within an alternatives-focused framework. His past tenure with the Indiana Public Retirement System lasted nearly a decade, during which he held various investment and leadership roles, including Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Director of Private Equity. Detmer’s academic credentials are highlighted by an MBA with Distinction in Finance and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, in addition to being both a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
CEO Jeffrey H. Thomasson commented on this significant expansion, noting, "We made private markets a core part of how we invest for clients more than 25 years ago, well before it was common for firms like ours. Many of the families who come to Oxford have recently sold a business, and they seek thoughtful ways to reinvest that capital in private companies. The level of experience that Scott and Nick possess in making such investment decisions for an endowment and a state pension fund will truly benefit the families we serve."
Oxford Financial Group, which is recognized as one of the largest independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firms in the United States, oversees assets amounting to more than $38 billion under advisory. With a total of 25 Managing Directors distributed across seven market offices, the firm caters to family and institutional clients nationwide from locations in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and Palm Beach. Having offered multigenerational estate planning and innovative investment solutions for over 45 years, Oxford continues to embrace its mission of serving families with integrity and expertise.
With the addition of seasoned professionals like Ryan and Detmer, the firm is poised for continued success as it evolves and captures new opportunities within the dynamic landscape of private markets.
