Significant Advancements in Solar Energy: TOPCon Module Dominates Performance Metrics

Unveiling the Performance of N-type TOPCon Solar Modules

Recently, the report titled "National Solar Power and Storage Validation Platform (Daqing Base) Verification Results Report (2025 Edition)" was released, showcasing notable findings over the past four years regarding the efficacy of N-type TOPCon solar modules. Findings indicate that these modules exhibit substantial advantages in overall power generation capabilities over their BC counterparts.

The N-type TOPCon modules are characterized by their exceptional bifacial performance, favorable temperature coefficients, and consistency in power generation capabilities over extended periods. Evaluations conducted through various technological comparisons have highlighted their outstanding effectiveness, reinforcing the high business value and widespread applicability of the N-type TOPCon technology. As such, these findings serve as a crucial benchmark for equipment selection in solar power plants globally.

Situated in the cold region of Heilongjiang Province, the Daqing Base maintains a mere average annual temperature of 5.5℃, coupled with favorable solar radiation conditions, where primary irradiance remains between 900-1000W/㎡ year-round. This unique combination of low temperatures and high irradiance provides an ideal natural testing ground to assess the efficiency, operational stability, and environmental durability of solar modules.

The first phase of the verification project at the Daqing Base commenced in January 2022, featuring participation from 12 leading manufacturers in the industry with 29 different solar module products, reaching a combined installed capacity of 24.25 MW. Continuous monitoring over four years has accumulated objective and equitable data, eliminating the limitations of laboratory settings, thus holding high reference value for real-world power plant design and operations.

The latest assessments focus primarily on comparing the power generation performance throughout the lifecycle of commercially available N-type TOPCon modules and N-type BC modules. According to the comprehensive data collected over four years, TOPCon modules demonstrate an average increase of 2.27% in power generation per unit output compared to BC modules.

Another noteworthy aspect is the annual expansion of this superiority, where the power generation increase rose from 1.39% in 2022 to 2.68% in 2023, and is projected to reach 3.49% by 2025. This consistent performance over four consecutive years validates that the TOPCon modules maintain stability under long-term operation while continually delivering high power generation capabilities, contributing to enhanced long-term profitability for power plants.

Additionally, the report cautions that even products utilizing the same TOPCon technology could exhibit nearly a 2% variance in power generation performance between top brands and standard products. This finding emphasizes that manufacturing technology, technical experience, and quality management capabilities significantly influence the final revenue from solar power plants.

JinkoSolar, recognized as one of the pioneering companies to achieve large-scale production of the N-type TOPCon modules, leverages mature production technology, ongoing innovation, and strict quality management frameworks. Their Tiger Neo series stands out in the TOPCon market due to its reliability and superior power generation performance, making it a formidable choice for solar power projects.

The extensive verification results obtained at the Daqing Base have resolved ongoing technical debates, further establishing the competitive advantage of TOPCon as a mainstream N-type technology in the solar energy sector. Moving forward, JinkoSolar is committed to continually tracking and disseminating monitoring data from various authoritative validation platforms, while driving innovations aimed at further improving module performance. Their objective remains to deliver solar power products and integrated solutions that promise higher power generation, greater reliability, and improved investment returns to their clients.
