CLOU Electronics Showcases Innovative Energy Storage Solutions at Smarter E Europe 2026
The Smarter E Europe 2026 commenced in Munich, Germany, with a significant focus on energy solutions, where CLOU Electronics and Midea Energy presented their latest advancements in energy storage technologies. Situated at a joint booth, the two companies unveiled a series of products designed to meet the evolving demands of the European energy market.
Highlighting Key Innovations
CLOU Electronics introduced the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra, a cutting-edge utility-scale energy storage system. Offering a capacity of 5.154 MWh, this system is housed in a compact container measuring just over 10 feet, with a total system weight of less than 39 tons. This innovative design not only optimizes capacity and dimensions but significantly reduces logistics costs and installation complexity when compared to traditional 20-foot containerized systems. This is a pivotal advancement for stakeholders in energy storage who are looking for efficient solutions to integrate into their operations.
For commercial industrial (CI) applications, CLOU showcased the Aqua-E261, engineered specifically for large-scale CI users. This device features 314Ah battery cells and has an impressive single cabinet capacity of 261kWh. Its advanced cooling system, which achieves an overall cell temperature variation of only 2.5°C, ensures high safety and return on investment while simplifying operations and maintenance.
Integrated Energy Solutions for AI Data Centers
Midea Energy also showcased its integrated energy solution tailored for artificial intelligence data center scenarios. This innovative platform blends Midea’s strengths in cooling technology, intelligent manufacturing, and a robust global supply chain with CLOU's expertise in power electronics and energy storage. This synergy has resulted in a comprehensive energy architecture that encompasses energy storage systems, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, Solid State Transformers (SST), and Battery Backup Units (BBU), alongside Midea’s maglev liquid-cooling chillers.
Advances in Battery Management
With energy storage technology advancing towards larger capacity cells — such as those 500Ah or above — challenges with consistency among battery cells become more pronounced. To address this issue, CLOU introduced its White Paper on Cell-Level DC-DC Energy Transfer Technology. This groundbreaking approach establishes a two-way energy scheduling channel between battery cells ready to support currents up to 5A, allowing for seamless online management of cell consistency. This innovation can potentially enhance recurring revenue by about 4% over the full lifecycle of the system.
Strategic Growth in Europe
This exhibition marks a crucial step in Midea Energy's strategic expansion into Europe, with CLOU acting as a key implementer of its overseas strategy. CLOU has successfully executed extensive energy storage projects across various European nations, including Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and North Macedonia. Currently, the company operates more than 50 CI energy storage sites, prominently situated in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Moving forward, CLOU aims to continue utilizing the vast resources and global capabilities of the Midea Group, positioning itself as a key long-term partner in the ongoing energy transition across Europe. By delivering innovative solutions and adapting to market needs, they are set to play a pivotal role in the future of energy management and sustainability in the region.
