Discover a New Kind of Park at Hibiya Art Park 2025 Event

Hibiya Art Park 2025: An Artistic Encounter Every Visit

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is set to kick off the exciting Hibiya Art Park 2025 program, opening its doors on April 10, 2025, unveiling a month-long celebration of public art and performing arts. Envisioned as part of the seasonal Flower and Light Movement, this event invites visitors to immerse themselves under the enchanting atmosphere created by a large-scale art installation that connects the beauty of flowers and light with contemporary art.

Event Highlights

The event features two distinct phases:
  • - Phase One: Transformed Composition (April 25 - May 11, 2025)
  • - Phase Two: “Play”ing Catch (May 17 - May 25, 2025)
Both phases will showcase public art and interactive performances in the iconic Hibiya Park, located in the heart of Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

Phase One: Artistic Installations

Running from April 25 through May 11, the first phase focuses on public art as curated by the late Junya Yamamine, whose vision centers on playful interactions with nature. Selected artists, including Hiroko Kubo and Giacomo Zaganelli, will create thought-provoking installations. One standout, Forest for Momentum, invites audiences to step into a mystical jungle formed by vibrant flora, positioned at the park's First Flower Bed.
Kubo will also showcase two significant sculptures, evoking diverse cultures, while Zaganelli interacts with visitors by encouraging spontaneous social encounters through his designed ping pong tables, fostering communication in an open space.

Phase Two: Engaging Performances

From May 17 to May 25, the second phase will feature participatory performing arts. The program, titled “Play”ing Catch, examines the co-evolution of flora, fauna, and humans through interactive experiences. This second phase will include exciting offerings such as the Iishin Collective Caravan Village, outdoor film screenings, and unique performances like Fire Bed by Toru Oyamada, inviting attendees to engage around communal fires.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops, one where they can help construct an art piece with clay, and another where they engage in explorative movements through guided tours that merge human experience with the surrounding ecosystem.
