Sendai PARCO Embraces a Sustainable Future with 'R-LOOP'
In an exciting step towards sustainability, Sendai PARCO has partnered with BPLab to launch the 'R-LOOP' initiative aimed at promoting eco-friendly lifestyles by encouraging residents to recycle their unwanted goods. Beginning April 18, 2025, the mall will offer a convenient collection point for items like clothes, shoes, bags, and various household goods. This initiative not only provides a solution for disposing of items responsibly but also contributes to a circular economy, where products are reused and recycled rather than discarded.
What is 'R-LOOP'?
The 'R-LOOP' program is designed to collect textiles and household items that local residents no longer need. Run collaboratively by BPLab and Book Off Corporation, this innovative platform aims to create a new lifestyle choice where people opt for not throwing away their items, thus reducing waste. When individuals place their unwanted goods into the 'R-LOOP', those items are collected and taken to one of Book Off's six facilities across Japan, where they are sorted for reuse or recycling.
Once sorted, items that can still be used will be sold in reuse stores operated by Book Off under the brand 'Jalan Jalan Japan'. Meanwhile, the processed textiles will undergo recycling to be repurposed into new products, thanks to BPLab's advanced recycling systems. This process emphasizes the importance of giving new life to materials and reducing the strain on the environment.
Why Participate?
Consumers today face numerous decisions regarding what to do with items they no longer use. Many feel guilty about throwing away functional goods, while others simply do not know how to dispose of them properly. With 'R-LOOP', Sendai PARCO is making it easier than ever to declutter while contributing to a more sustainable future. This initiative aligns with modern values surrounding environmental consciousness, helping individuals feel connected to the larger mission of reducing waste in their communities.

About BPLab
BPLab is a pioneer in consulting on the collection and recycling of textiles and household goods. Since its establishment, it has been connecting with apparel manufacturers and educational institutions to create a robust framework for recycling textiles through initiatives like BIOLOGIC LOOP, launched in August 2021. This program emphasizes the significance of turning waste into resources.
The Future of Reuse
As we approach the official launch of 'R-LOOP', Sendai PARCO hopes to inspire more individuals to adopt sustainable habits and foster a culture of reuse. With Book Off's impressive background as a leader in the reuse industry, consumers can feel confident that their donations will be handled responsibly.
This initiative marks a significant positive shift toward a more sustainable society, making it easier for everyone to participate in protecting the environment, one item at a time. By embracing such programs, we can all contribute to a healthier planet and a more resourceful future.
