AllianceBernstein Names Onur Erzan as New President and CEO

On September 25, 2026, AllianceBernstein Holding L.P. (NYSE: AB), a prominent global investment management firm, announced the appointment of Onur Erzan as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 1, 2027. This decision marks a significant transition as Erzan will succeed the current CEO Seth Bernstein, who is set to retire on March 31, 2027, after nearly ten years of exemplary leadership.

A Transition of Leadership

Mark Pearson, the CEO of Equitable Holdings and AB Board member, praised Erzan's exceptional leadership qualities and extensive experience in asset management and insurance. He noted, "Onur has played a vital role in shaping the firm's strategy and expanding its capabilities, ensuring continued growth amidst evolving market conditions."

Seth Bernstein has led AllianceBernstein through substantial transformations and strategic initiatives. Under his guidance, the firm has diversified beyond its traditional focus on active public market management to become a global leader in various investment management sectors, including private markets and insurance asset management. The firm has seen its assets under management nearly double to over $919 billion by August 31, 2026.

Seth Bernstein's Legacy

During his tenure, Bernstein has spearheaded significant structural changes, including relocating the firm's headquarters to Nashville, establishing a joint venture for Bernstein Research, and enhancing the firm’s global distribution capabilities. His leadership has not only expanded AB's reach but also strengthened the partnership with Equitable Holdings, positioning the company for future success.

Bernstein expressed gratitude for his time at the helm, remarking, "It has been the privilege of a lifetime to lead this remarkable firm. I am confidant that Onur will lead AB into a prosperous future."

Onur Erzan's Vision

Erzan, who has served as President since January 2026, has a robust background in asset management and distribution strategy. His experience includes shaping global distribution strategies and launching innovative products, such as active ETFs. Additionally, under his leadership, Bernstein’s Private Wealth Management segment has significantly expanded its ultra-high-net-worth capabilities.

Erzan’s approach emphasizes investment excellence, intellectual rigor, and a culture of collaboration, all directed towards client-focused outcomes. He shared his enthusiasm for the role, stating, "I am honored to lead AB at such a crucial time in our history. With the evolving landscape of asset management, we are well-positioned to deliver the insights and partnerships our clients need."

Before his time at AllianceBernstein, Erzan spent two decades at McKinsey & Company, where he became a Senior Partner and co-leader in their Wealth and Asset Management practice. His advisory work included engagement with leading global financial institutions, and he is passionate about community involvement, serving on various boards.

With the leadership transition set for April 2027, Erzan's appointment is expected to provide a fresh perspective and renewed energy for AllianceBernstein as it navigates the future of investment management amidst changing client expectations and market dynamics. The firm remains committed to delivering exceptional service through a deep understanding of various investment strategies and client needs.

As the new chapter begins under Erzan's leadership, industry stakeholders will be observing how his vision and operational strategy will shape the future of AllianceBernstein as a leading investment management firm in a competitive landscape.
