Offered through its online shop, tecoco and Amazon, this delightful decoration boasts a remarkable thickness of just 0.3mm, making it a stunning yet space-saving addition to your home decor. Through special printing techniques, the popca Yacht captures the essence of a refreshing sea, beautifully depicting the tranquility of summer days.

Collaboratively developed with designer Shigeya Miyata from oooooo, this yacht represents a blend of artistic simplicity and modern design, perfectly fitting for adult spaces. The use of lightweight film not only enhances its aesthetic but also allows for easy storage during the off-season, laying flat when not in use.

A Glimpse into the Popca Series

The popca summer collection, complete with intricate gradient and relief printing, brings seasonal scenes to life, making each piece a visual delight. The popca Yacht in particular portrays a serene seascape where the yacht elegantly navigates the gentle waves, allowing you to feel the summer spirit. The shimmering waves and the tactile sensation of the sails are brought to life through silk screen printing, enhancing the overall dimensional experience.

Shigeya Miyata emphasized his desire to push the envelope with the yacht's design by exploring asymmetrical forms—a departure from the typical symmetrical profiles of previous popca products. Rigorously testing paper angles allowed him to refine the minimalist folds that perfectly capture the yacht's essence.

Addressing challenges during development, Miyata noted that achieving the right shade of blue for the background required extensive experimentation. Balancing the gradient while avoiding a cloudy appearance proved tricky; however, the solution involved creating a custom brush from scanned spray-painted paper, enabling him to achieve a stunning background gradient.

The popca Yacht, with its ethereal colors and translucence, shines when placed in sunlit areas like windowsills, evoking an even greater sense of summer. For homes with aquariums, positioning the yacht nearby can create a harmonious aquatic theme.
