Clarke Energy Enhances Energy Resilience for Capraci in Ivory Coast
Clarke Energy, part of the Rehlko group and a leader in distributed energy solutions, has been selected by Capraci to design and implement a state-of-the-art 4 MW trigeneration facility powered by natural gas in Abidjan. This significant project aims to boost energy security, cut operational costs, and support Capraci's long-term environmental goals. Capraci is one of the leading pasta manufacturers in Ivory Coast, making this development critical for their operations.
Project Overview
The new trigeneration facility will leverage Jenbacher gas engines from INNIO, known for their reliability and efficiency in demanding industrial environments. As a certified distributor of Jenbacher engines, Clarke Energy will not only supply these motors but will also provide ancillary equipment necessary for optimal operation of the facility. These engines are designed to operate sustainably, having a high utilization rate while being capable of handling significant thermal loads and varying fuel quality. This guarantees high availability and operational continuity, ensuring that Capraci receives stable and efficient energy to support its growth.
One of the key features of the facility is its ability to simultaneously produce electricity, heat, and cooling from a single energy source, significantly enhancing Capraci's overall energy performance. The project includes a high-efficiency heat recovery system capable of generating superheated water at 130°C, which will be directly utilized in pasta production. Additionally, an absorption chiller will provide chilled water at 11°C to meet the cooling requirements of the facility.
Long-term Partnership and Operation
Beyond the initial installation, Clarke Energy will also be responsible for long-term operational management and maintenance of the equipment. This service contract ensures continuous performance and high operational availability, while also providing ongoing technical support. According to Jacques Soulayrac, General Manager for France and Africa at Clarke Energy, “This project perfectly embodies our mission to support industrial players in Africa with efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions. We are not just delivering a power plant; we are providing a lever for long-lasting competitiveness.”
Broader Impact on Industrial Infrastructure
The investment aligns with a broader movement to modernize industrial infrastructures within Ivory Coast, positioning Clarke Energy as a key partner for high-efficiency energy solutions in West Africa. This partnership reflects a long-term vision of reliability, ensuring that Capraci can operate smoothly and focus on growth.
