Essity Honored by CDP for Environmental Leadership



Essity, a prominent global hygiene and health enterprise, has recently earned a notable position on the CDP's esteemed "A List". This accolade, awarded by the renowned environmental non-profit organization, signifies Essity’s outstanding contributions to corporate transparency and performance in the domain of forest conservation. Furthermore, the company has achieved an impressive A- rating regarding climate initiatives, reinforcing its steadfast dedication to sustainability.

Over 22,000 companies hailing from 130 nations, representing approximately two-thirds of global market capitalization, participated in CDP's 2025 questionnaire. The evaluation encompasses several critical criteria including sustainability targets, governance frameworks, initiatives for reducing environmental impact, and engagement across the value chain. Essity is amongst the select few, just 4% of organizations, recognized on this prestigious 2025 corporate A-list.

Our ambition to become net-zero by 2050 and our engagement in the Science Based Targets initiative since 2017 remain central to our strategy. Understanding the significance of forests in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change, Essity's commitment also extends to responsible sourcing of materials. As a leading buyer of fresh and recycled wood-based fiber materials, the company strives to ensure that all wood fiber is obtained through certified channels. Essity commits to third-party Chain of Custody systems, such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

With a statement outlining their 2050 target, Essity is dedicated to achieving net zero emissions. The company is ambitiously targeting a 35% reduction in the entire value chain emissions by the year 2030. This encompasses various aspects including operations, purchased goods, services, transportation, products, and production waste. Essity emphasizes prioritizing initiatives with the most significant impact and collaborates with a diverse array of partners to foster progress throughout the broader value chain.

The CDP operates the world’s largest database on environmental metrics, and its annual assessment process stands as a widely accepted benchmark for evaluating corporate environmental transparency and performance.
