Clou Unveils Advanced Energy Storage Solutions for Desert Climate at Solar & Storage Live KSA
In a significant showcase at the Solar & Storage Live KSA 2025 event held from October 12 to 14, 2025, in Riyadh, Clou Energy Storage unveiled its latest innovations in large-scale energy storage solutions tailored for utility, commercial, and industrial applications. Among the highlights was the Aqua C3.0 Pro, a state-of-the-art liquid-cooled energy storage system, specifically engineered to address the harsh desert climates prevalent in the Middle East and Africa. This presentation emphasized Clou’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies that meet the specific demands of regional markets, solidifying its leadership in the energy storage sector.
As part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative, the nation aims to generate over 50% of its energy from renewable sources by the year 2030. To facilitate this transition, Saudi Arabia is actively incorporating advanced energy storage technologies to tackle key challenges posed by renewable energy systems. These challenges include enhancing electricity production stability, improving grid flexibility, and boosting overall energy efficiency.
The Aqua C3.0 Pro features a high-capacity cell offering 600Ah+ and storage capacity of 6.88 MWh, all within a single cabinet. This solution significantly enhances system efficiency, safety, and ease of operation and maintenance, ultimately reducing the total cost of ownership by 10.63%. The system is adept at adapting to the severe temperatures and conditions typical of desert environments thanks to three core technologies: advanced thermal management, compliance with AC performance standards, and tailored protection against sand and dust.
Utilizing an advanced insulated structural design combined with a high-power liquid cooling unit, the system efficiently manages thermal derating at ambient temperatures of 55°C, ensuring stable performance even under maximal thermal stress. To bolster AC adaptability and resolve issues related to transformer/power conversion system deration during extreme heat, the solution employs a large-capacity MV Skid which offers continuous full-power output at 55°C, effectively meeting the stringent operational demands of battery energy storage systems.
In consideration of regional climate fluctuations, the Aqua C3.0 Pro features an adaptive design that guarantees reliable performance across varied operational environments. Additionally, in response to issues posed by sand and dust accumulation, this customized model greatly enhances operational reliability through a sealed design of its core components and specialized protection against environmental contaminants.
Apart from launching new products, Clou also featured its advanced product matrix, which includes the Aqua-C2.5 liquid-cooled system, the Aqua-E233 CI energy storage system, and the CLOU EMS, thereby addressing key scenarios on both grid-side and CI-side applications. With nearly 30 years of in-depth experience in the electricity sector, Clou has undertaken several reference projects worldwide. Notable projects include a large-scale energy storage installation in Chile's Atacama Desert, which effectively addresses challenges related to high temperatures and sandstorms, and a large coastal energy storage project in Haifeng, Guangdong, China's humid and saline climate. With its comprehensive understanding of global energy needs and regional environmental differences, Clou continues to promote a transition to sustainable energy solutions and maintains its stance as a global leader in the energy storage industry.
