Key Discussion Points
As discussions move forward regarding the GHG Protocol's Scope 2 revisions, particular emphasis has been placed on the timings and locations of power generation when it comes to calculating CO2 emissions and renewable energy procurement. With the increasing integration of renewable energy sources, the CO2 emission intensity of electricity is varied significantly across different times and regions.
In this seminar, Mr. Mizutani will break down elements such as hourly matching, deliverability, and standard supply services (SSS) discussed in connection with the Scope 2 revisions, while also providing examples of hourly CO2 emission assessments both domestically and internationally. Through case studies of public data, including analyses of office buildings and EV charging, attendees will discover the insights emerging from hourly assessments and contemplate their implications on future renewable energy procurement, non-fossil certificates, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Seminar Agenda
1. Background and current trends regarding hourly CO2 emission assessments
2. Concepts surrounding hourly CO2 emission intensities, along with national and international case studies
3. Case studies on hourly CO2 emission assessments
4. Influence of Scope 2 revisions on renewable energy procurement
5. Future policy trends and corporate responses required
6. Q&A session / Networking opportunities
