The Inaugural Chō Tetsudō-sai: A New Railway Festival in Chiba

From November 28 to 30, 2023, the Aeon Mall Makuhari Shintoshin in Chiba will host the very first Chō Tetsudō-sai, a new railway festival organized by Sankei Digital. This exciting event promises a wide array of railway-themed activities designed to appeal to railway enthusiasts of all ages.

Attendees will have the chance to experience the thrill of operating an E5 Series Shinkansen simulator, enjoy comedic performances by railway-loving comedians, and participate in various games and challenges. With numerous activities planned, both enthusiasts and their families can engage in fun and educational experiences revolving around the world of trains.

A Commitment to Promoting Railway Culture

Sankei Digital, sister company of Sankei Shimbun, has been hosting the Railway Technology Exhibition since 2010, primarily targeting railway industry professionals. However, recognizing the importance of engaging the general public in railway culture, the company initiated the Chō Tetsudō-sai to foster interest and excitement in the railway sector amongst wider audiences.

Exciting Programs at Multiple Venues

With support from one of Chiba's premier shopping centers, several unique railway-themed programs will be available at four different locations within the mall:

Grand Court

The Grand Court is set to feature performances from guest comedians and a railway-themed quiz competition. Attendees can also look forward to the unveiling of a state-of-the-art Shinkansen simulator, set to be used for the first time in a commercial facility. This simulator replicates an authentic Shinkansen driving experience, featuring intricately designed controls and 4K visuals that allow participants to “drive” at speeds of 320 km/h.

E5 Series Shinkansen Simulator Experience:
- This simulator, in collaboration with Ongakukan Co., offers a realistic Shinkansen driving environment, faithfully recreating operational instruments and railway signals for a memorable experience. Tickets will be distributed prior to the event; check the official page for details!

Railway Mascots:

- Visit from popular mascots, including Hokkūn of the Hokuriku Railway, Monochan from the Chiba Urban Monorail, and Ainossuke from Ainokaze Toyama Railway.

The Grand Court will also host an engaging railway-themed quiz where attendees can answer questions about regional railways for a chance to win prizes!

Grand Square

Adjacent to the Grand Court, the Grand Square will feature the popular CGI animated train Wilson Big Train from the series Chuggington. Moreover, festival-exclusive activities such as creating personalized stamps and photo opportunities with authentic railway uniforms will be available.

Hobby Court

At the Hobby Court, attendees can try out games such as Railway Nippon! Real Pro: Long-Distance Driving - Limited Edition Hino Tori and other railway-centric games. There will also be retail opportunities featuring railway merchandise, uniforms, and more!

Toyosuna Park

Finally, Toyosuna Park, located adjacent to the Aeon Mall, will feature popular attractions like mini Shinkansen rides. Visitors can also indulge in gourmet offerings from renowned food trucks serving popular bento boxes from Tokyo Station and regional delicacies from around Japan.
