Empowering Women in Agriculture
The Tokyo agricultural landscape is evolving. As female farmers increasingly take center stage, the Tokyo Agricultural Women’s Course aims to bolster their participation and success in the industry. Spearheaded by JR East Japan Planning Co., Ltd., this initiative continues its support for women in agriculture, which was initiated last year under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's special support project for women.
In recent years, female agricultural workers have faced a plethora of challenges that call for sophisticated, multifaceted solutions. To address these, the Tokyo Agricultural Women’s Course will deploy experts to conduct hands-on workshops and forums, equipping women with critical insights about improving their working conditions and expanding their societal roles.
Program Overview
The program will consist of several key components designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of female agricultural professionals in Tokyo. The schedule includes:
- - Five regional courses covering the districts of Tokyo: the Special Ward Area, Nishitama, Mitama, and Kitama.
- - One common observation session for all women farmers across Tokyo.
- - One forum focusing on critical issues affecting women in agriculture.
This initiative is not solely for current agricultural practitioners but is also open to families of agricultural workers and anyone considering entering the agriculture sector. Importantly, participants are welcomed regardless of gender.
