Alleima Marks Five Years of Innovation with Sanicro® 35 for Corrosion Resistance
Celebrating Five Years of Sanicro® 35
In a remarkable milestone, Alleima, a leading global manufacturer, is celebrating five successful years since launching their innovative alloy, Sanicro® 35. This groundbreaking product quickly gained prominence for its superior corrosion resistance, making it a preferred choice in demanding environments, including chemical, bio, and petroleum refineries.
Sanicro® 35 was first introduced at the AMPP Annual Conference and Expo in Texas, USA, in 2020. It didn’t take long for the product to draw the attention of industry giants; one of the major oil refiners along the Gulf Coast adopted Sanicro® 35 for two heat exchangers in their crude unit. This decision not only highlighted the product's unique value but showcased its ability to merge the advantages of stainless steels and nickel alloys seamlessly.
Since its debut, Sanicro® 35 has proven invaluable across various sectors, including fertilizer production, chemical processing, and renewable feedstock pre-treatment. Analysts observe that Alleima has fulfilled millions in orders annually, underscoring the product's growing demand and success in the field. Recently, a significant order was placed by a repeat customer upgrading seven crude unit air coolers at a Gulf Coast refinery. The decision to utilize Sanicro® 35 for this application illustrates the alloy's exceptional resistance to corrosion, particularly in environments with ammonium chloride salts—a first for air cooler heat exchangers.
At the AMPP This Year, Alleima presented the numerous applications of Sanicro® 35, particularly focusing on its role in the production of renewable diesel and within the chemical process industry. The company's strategic decision to spotlight this material aligns with their broader mission to pioneer metallurgical innovations and provide robust, reliable solutions tailored to their clients’ technical challenges.
Brask Inc, a renowned manufacturer of tube shell heat exchangers located in the Gulf Coast region, was among the first fabricators to adopt Sanicro® 35. Their partnership with Alleima dates back many years, which bolstered their confidence in successfully fabricating the alloy. Dinesh Bakshi, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Brask, expressed their satisfaction with the alloy's performance and the support they received throughout the fabrication process: "They provided vital information on code case details, welding procedures, and filler metal selection, ensuring that fabrication proceeded seamlessly. Even under tight deadlines, Alleima rose to the occasion, enabling us to deliver the equipment on time for installation at the refinery."
Carl von Schantz, President of the Tube division at Alleima, elaborated on the company's ambitions: "Our mission is to push metallurgical boundaries and provide high integrity solutions for safe operation in critical services worldwide. Since launching Sanicro® 35 five years ago, we have seen an increasing demand for the product. Our presence at AMPP again this year is a perfect way to mark this important milestone."
Traditionally, engineers often turned to nickel-based Alloy 625 for high-corrosion applications. However, Sanicro® 35 presents a more economical alternative with comparable performance capabilities. The alloy withstands diverse corrosive conditions, including seawater, acids, alkalis, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC), while minimizing costs associated with the high nickel content prevalent in alloy 625.
With a growing number of representatives from Alleima slated to attend AMPP this year, there will be opportunities for attendees to engage with technical experts. Notable figures at the event include CEO and President Göran Björkman, Carl von Schantz, EVP and Head of Strategic Research Tom Eriksson, and Alexandra Kusoffsky, President for Business Unit Americas within the Tube division. Convention attendees can visit Booth #1225 to explore Sanicro® 35's outstanding potential firsthand.
As the industrial landscape evolves, Sanicro® 35 stands poised to redefine standards for corrosion resistance and material integrity, reaffirming Alleima’s role as a pioneering force in advanced alloy manufacturing.
