Overview of the Collaboration
Kuradashi, headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, under the leadership of CEO Kohei Kawamura, has entered into a joint investment agreement with Green Energy Company. This partnership aims to develop and operate a special purpose company focused on grid battery storage, named Kuradashi Investment LLC 2. An asset management contract has also been established, allowing Kuradashi to oversee the management and operations of various battery storage assets.
The Kuradashi Investment LLC 2 will work closely with Green Energy Company to develop and operate two domestic projects focusing on grid battery storage. This new venture culminates from a foundational agreement previously announced on June 30, 2026. Notably, one of the projects has already completed the necessary power receiving work, with plans to commence operations around August 2026.
Motivation Behind the Efforts
With a mission focused on creating beneficial business impacts for the future, Kuradashi strives to convert social issues into economic value. In the medium-term management plan announced in August 2024, Kuradashi highlighted new business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, as a pillar of their growth strategy. The establishment of the Green Infrastructure Company in December of that year marked a formal entry into the renewable energy space, particularly in the grid battery sector. Previously, Kuradashi has made considerable progress with the development and operation of "Tochigi Koyama Battery Storage" and announced investment plans for four additional projects. These efforts are crucial in enhancing renewable energy integration and minimizing energy loss.
The advent of climate change has accentuated the need for stable clean energy supplies, paving the way for this joint venture with Green Energy Company. Through the establishment of Kuradashi Investment LLC 2 and the accompanying investment agreement, Kuradashi aims to collaboratively push forward with the development and operation of grid battery storage in two domestic locations.
Joint Business Structure
This joint venture will utilize a GK-TK scheme, where both Kuradashi and Green Energy Company will act as anonymous partners, sharing investments and returns. Under the asset management contract, Kuradashi will undertake the comprehensive development and operational processes for the battery storage facilities. Looking ahead, the company also anticipates actively integrating project finance from financial institutions and engaging new TK investors, which could scale the business further. This flexible approach is designed to enhance economic circulation within the renewable energy market.
