BE OPEN Art Launches Competition for Emerging Artists in South Asia
BE OPEN Art, an innovative online gallery established by the humanitarian think tank BE OPEN, led by the renowned philanthropist Elena Baturina, has proudly announced the commencement of its first regional competition for 2025. This initiative aims to support and highlight the artistic talents of emerging creators from South Asia, encompassing countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.
The competition, now in its third year, seeks to identify and promote artists whose works are reflective of their unique regional, cultural, and ethnic identities. The overarching goal is to provide these artists with increased visibility and a platform to showcase their creativity on a global stage. Each year, BE OPEN Art emphasizes the importance of regional representation in contemporary art, fostering a greater understanding of diverse cultures.
The first phase of the competition will span three months, concluding with the announcement of the South Asia Regional Winner in early April 2025. The selected winner will receive a cash prize of 500 euros, which aims to provide not just financial support but also encouragement for the artists in their journey. In addition, the initiative will reward popular votes for other regional artists, including a special prize for the founder's favorite artist.
