The National Tea Competition is an annual event where tea leaves are evaluated and showcased across eight categories of Japanese tea, including types such as Futsumushi Sencha, Gyokuro, Tencha, and Kamairicha. Expert judges assess each entry based on various criteria, including appearance, fragrance, liquor color, and taste, selecting the finest samples for various awards. The top-scoring teas are honored with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, a prestigious recognition of exceptional quality and excellence in tea production.

1. Standard Steamed Sencha (Hamamatsu, Shizuoka)

Awarded First Prize in the Standard Steamed Sencha category, this exquisite tea comes from a meticulous hand-picking process in the mountainous area of Haruno in Shizuoka.
