Hankook Concludes a Successful Season 12 at the London Formula E Finale

The 2026 Hankook London E-Prix marked the thrilling conclusion of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, with intense races that crowned Pascal Wehrlein from Porsche Formula E Team as the Drivers' World Champion for the second time. The event took place in an exciting double-header format with Rounds 16 and 17, where contrasting track surfaces tested the teams' strategies and tyre performance.

In Round 16, Wehrlein dominated by turning his pole position into a decisive victory, leading the pack ahead of Jake Dennis of Andretti and António Félix da Costa from Jaguar TCS Racing. However, the spotlight in Round 17 shifted to Taylor Barnard from DS PENSKE, who celebrated his first victory in Formula E, outperforming Nyck de Vries from Mahindra Racing and Edoardo Mortara. Despite not finishing in the points during the final race, Wehrlein had already accumulated enough points to secure his championship title, thanks to his outstanding performance throughout the season.

The weather conditions in London were dry and stable, creating a conducive environment for both teams and drivers. This allowed them to focus on optimizing their cars and strategies to handle the unique aspects of the London circuit, where distinct indoor and outdoor sections posed challenges for tyre warm-up and grip consistency. With varying surfaces affecting traction, the importance of maintaining stable performance became crucial, especially during qualifying sessions and after race restarts.

"London was a fitting final challenge for the iON Race," stated Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsport. He emphasized that the Hankook iON Race tyres delivered the necessary consistency and reliability to meet the demands of both indoor and outdoor racing environments. Sandbichler extended his congratulations to Wehrlein and expressed gratitude to Formula E, the FIA, the teams, and the drivers for their collaborative efforts throughout the GEN3 era.

During the Fan Village event, Hankook took the opportunity to showcase its cutting-edge iON tyre technology and unveiled the winning design from its 'Make it Yours, Make it Race' AI helmet campaign. The victorious designer received a full-scale racing helmet, while fans had the chance to interact with Formula E drivers, including Maximilian Günther and Taylor Barnard, during a signing session.

Hankook's journey in Formula E began at the start of Season 9 in January 2023, during which they exclusively provided tyres to the entire grid, navigating the challenges presented by the evolving GEN3 and GEN3 Evo generations. Over these four seasons, Hankook has gained invaluable experience in electric motor racing across diverse circuits and conditions, which continues to inform its tyre development and future motorsport initiatives.

As Team Jaguar TCS Racing claimed the Teams' World Championship and Porsche secured the Manufacturers' World Championship three weeks prior in Tokyo, the London finale offered a perfect stage to reflect on the competitiveness and innovation that have defined the current season. With this exciting finale, Hankook not only celebrates a successful season but also sets its sights on the future of electric racing.
