Alimentaria+Hostelco 2026: A Milestone Event for the Food and Hospitality Sector
Alimentaria+Hostelco is slated to return to the Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue from March 23 to 26, 2026. This year's event is particularly significant as it marks the 50th anniversary of Alimentaria, reinforcing its position as a leading hub for the food, hospitality, and foodservice sectors.
With a sprawling exhibition space of 100,000 square meters, the event will see participation from over 3,300 companies, nearly 1,000 of which will come from 70 different countries. The international participation is notably anticipated to increase by 41% compared to the last edition held in 2024, demonstrating the show's growing global appeal. With Europe representing a substantial contingent, Poland will be honored as the Country of Honour, highlighting its contributions to the sector along with strong presences from Asia and Latin America.
The list of confirmed international companies is impressive, including key players like KeHE, Bidfood, Bergfood, Cotswold Fayre, Sonae, PriceSmart, and Walmart, among others. This broad participation underscores the event's role as a strategic meeting place for industry stakeholders worldwide.
To enhance market access and foster commercial opportunities, the organizers have invited 1,500 major buyers and importers from 100 countries, in addition to 1,200 national buyers. A staggering 14,500 business meetings are expected to take place during the event, showcasing the immense networking potential it offers.
Alimentaria+Hostelco 2026 will feature a range of specialized sectors. Intercarn is set to be the largest segment, with 350 companies occupying 15,000 square meters. Other highlighted sectors include Organic Foods, Alimentaria Trends, Fine Foods focused on innovation, Grocery Foods, Coffee, and Bakery Pastry, which will see its space doubled this year.
Additionally, areas such as Interlact, Lands of Spain, Snacks, Biscuits & Confectionery, Expoconser, Restaurama, and various International Pavilions will add to the diverse offerings available. Innovation remains a key focus, with the Alimentaria Hub set to host 200 experts in pivotal areas such as sustainability, digitalization, and emerging trends. The Innoval area will showcase over 300 groundbreaking product innovations, complemented by 60 start-ups in the Food Hospitality arena.
The Horeca sector will boast more than 20,000 square meters of dedicated space with 600 companies and 200 scheduled activities. The Horeca Hub will also introduce Imagine Foodservice Europe and a new initiative known as The Shift, fostering dynamic discussions and insights. Moreover, The Bakery Pastry Hub and The Coffee Stage will gather leading figures from these respective sectors.
The event will feature several competitions, including the inaugural International Alimentaria Cooking Championship, sponsored by #alimentosdeespaña, as well as the Horeca Awards and various professional championships.
Organized by Alimentaria Exhibitions, a subsidiary of Fira de Barcelona, Alimentaria+Hostelco 2026 anticipates welcoming more than 110,000 professional visitors, with approximately 25% expected to come from international locations. This highlights the event's continued significance as a premier platform for business, internationalization, and networking in the food and hospitality industries.
