Huawei Recognized as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant for Data Center Switching
On April 7, 2025, Gartner released its Magic Quadrant for Data Center Switching for 2025, where Huawei has been distinguished as the world leader in the sector. Huawei's significant positioning in the “Completeness of Vision” category underscores its commitment to innovation and excellence in the data center space.
In an era marked by the rapid evolution of AI technologies and cloud architectures, Huawei is set to enhance data center networks through several pivotal strategies. The company has introduced its upgraded solution known as
SmartLink Sing-che, which is crafted on a three-tier AI-powered architecture comprising
AI Brain,
AI Connection, and
AI NE. These advancements aim to streamline operations, bolster security, and optimize performance.
AI Brain Enhancements
Huawei’s unique AI Brain boasts an exclusive digital network map and an expansive NetMaster model, which significantly improves automated deployment processes. The incorporation of integrated security simulation allows the network to autonomously address 80% of faults, drastically elevating operational efficiency.
AI Connection Innovations
The innovative network-scale node selection algorithm and load balancing technology (NSLB) aim to optimize path planning and eliminate performance bottlenecks. As a result, AI training efficiency has seen a boost of over 10%. Huawei’s iReliable technology introduces three levels of reliability alongside an impressive resilience against channel loss, ensuring-zero service interruptions for users.
AI NE Capabilities
By leveraging the CloudEngine switch series and StarryLink optical modules, Huawei has implemented high-precision operational awareness along with visualized monitoring of packet loss and delays. This facilitates more effective network management and fault resolution.
Moreover, Huawei has launched the rugged CloudEngine XH9330, the industry's highest density switch with 128
800GE capacity, alongside the CloudEngine XH9230 featuring liquid cooling technology, marking a first in the industry. Both switches are engineered to transcend limitations typical of AI cluster scalability, while Huawei's proprietary iFlashboot technology ensures uninterrupted AI training during abnormal restarts and upgrades.
StarryLink Optical Modules
Introduced during the 2025 Mobile World Congress, the StarryLink optical modules bring forth three core functionalities:
1. Span Capability: Employing a unique optical path merging algorithm, Huawei optimizes signal power distribution, significantly exceeding average transmission capabilities within the industry.
2. Stability Assurance: Proprietary technology for localized detection of optical loss enables rapid identification of dirty or loose optical connections in minutes—substantially quicker than industry averages.
3. Enhanced Security: The integration of PHYSEC (Physical Layer Security) into the optical module's processing unit ensures comprehensive encryption of packets, thus nullifying risks related to data leakage.
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, Huawei remains steadfast in advancing technical research and product innovation related to data center networks. By expanding its portfolio of CloudEngine data center switches and supporting technology advances, Huawei is poised to assist enterprises navigating the evolving landscape of network technologies, thereby fostering robust infrastructures for the intelligent transformation of enterprise data.
