LG Electronics Unveils Advanced In-Cabin Technologies for Genesis GV90 SUV

LG Electronics Enhances Genesis GV90 Experience with Advanced In-Cabin Solutions

LG Electronics is excited to announce the integration of a suite of advanced in-cabin technologies within the Genesis GV90, the company's inaugural full-size flagship SUV. This innovative suite consists of six meticulously designed solutions focused on improving display, infotainment, entertainment, and connectivity, thereby enriching the overall driving experience for both drivers and passengers.

Integrating Display and Infotainment for an Immersive Experience

At the core of the GV90's cockpit lies the state-of-the-art 24.6-inch variable popup central information display (CID), a significant first for Genesis models. This unique display system is adaptively engineered to enhance the driving and entertainment experience based on specific scenarios. When it's time to drive, the display maintains a compact profile, presenting a screen size of 23.6 inches for easy readability of critical driving information. On the other hand, for stationary entertainment, the display elevates by an additional 90mm to provide an expansive viewing experience of 24.6 inches.

Alongside this adaptive display, LG's integrated infotainment system seamlessly blends into Hyundai Motor Group's Pleos Connect platform, serving as the central hub for the GV90's cockpit. This hybrid system facilitates the integration of various functionalities like the audio, video, navigation (AVN) systems, and instrument cluster, yielding easy accessibility and control for users. The system not only enhances usability but also supports advanced features such as the Pleos Connect OS and the Gleo AI voice assistant service for increased convenience.

Expanding In-Vehicle Content and Digital Services

The GV90 sets a new standard for content accessibility with the inclusion of LG's Automotive Content Platform (ACP), offering dynamic entertainment and digital services tailored to the in-cabin environment. Passengers can now enjoy a variety of streaming services directly on the vehicle's infotainment display, including popular choices like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, along with new additions such as Zoom and Rakuten TV tailored for a transformative in-vehicle experience.

Enhancing Rear-Seat Entertainment and Connectivity

In addition to a premium front experience, LG's innovations also capture the rear-seat experience, featuring the second-generation connected car Rear Cockpit (ccRC), which includes a sophisticated 13.2-inch touch-sensitive OLED panel. This system allows backseat passengers to enjoy first-class entertainment, turning the rear cabin into a personal viewing area with rich image quality. Furthermore, the eight-inch console touch screen (CTS) offers users touch-enabled control over various vehicle functions like climate control and seat adjustments, further amplifying convenience during travel.

Critically, LG's Central Communication Unit (CCU 2.0) serves as the backbone of connectivity within the GV90. It facilitates smooth communication across the vehicle's electronic control units (ECUs) and maintains connection with external networks, enabling essential features such as remote access and over-the-air updates. Notably, CCU 2.0 complies with TÜV Rheinland certifications, meeting the highest safety standards under the ISO 26262 international norms for automotive functionality.

A Leap Towards Future Mobility

The advancements showcased in the Genesis GV90 highlight LG's robust commitment to moving the automotive industry towards a future filled with innovative in-cabin experiences. As stated by Eun Seok-hyun, president of the LG Vehicle Solution Company, “By integrating our expertise in display technologies, infotainment systems, and vehicle control, we are working towards creating more seamless and intuitive environments for both drivers and passengers.”

In conclusion, LG Electronics continues to redefine the contours of automotive technology, carving a niche in delivering advanced, integrated in-cabin solutions for a new generation of vehicles. Stay tuned as LG drives forward, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of automotive technology.
