Tensor Energy Collaborates to Optimize Power Generation Under FIP System

Tensor Energy’s New Initiative for FIP System Optimization



In a significant move towards enhancing the efficiency of renewable energy operations, Tensor Energy Corporation (based in Fukuoka, central Japan) has announced the commencement of a collaborative demonstration project aimed at optimizing power generation under the Feed-in Premium (FIP) system. This venture includes partnerships with Limix Point Inc., Seal Engineering Co., Ltd., and Energy Solutions Inc., each contributing their expertise in energy management and renewable energy.

Background and Purpose of the Demonstration Project



As the energy landscape shifts from the Fixed Price Purchase System (FIT) to the FIP system, renewable energy producers are now challenged to respond effectively to market price fluctuations. This newly organized project focuses on a solar power facility in Uji City, Kumamoto Prefecture, owned by Limix Point, which has an output of 968.5 kW and an estimated annual generation of 900,000 kWh. Accompanying this facility is a battery storage system capable of handling approximately 2,500 kWh. The goal of this project is to maximize profitability following the transition to the FIP system by optimizing operations through accurate power generation forecasts and market demand predictions. Additionally, the project will include automation processes for various applications to the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) and the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO).

Tensor Energy’s Role and Technologies Provided



As a frontrunner in AI-driven optimization solutions for solar and battery systems operating under the FIP regime, Tensor Energy boasts 13 months of operational success. The company will deliver its advanced SaaS-based platform, Tensor Cloud, which focuses on maximizing returns for solar power and storage systems. By integrating with local energy management systems developed by Energy Solutions, Tensor Energy will execute several key initiatives:

1. Model Development for Power Generation and Market Predictions: Tensor Energy will utilize operational data from the battery systems along with market data to create highly accurate models for power generation and market price forecasts.

2. Automation of Application and Planning Processes: The outcomes from these forecasts will facilitate the development of optimal charge and discharge plans for the battery, thereby streamlining the application procedures to JEPX and OCCTO.

3. Real-Time Control and Operational Optimization of Batteries: The enterprise will employ real-time data to automate rapid charging and discharging based on fluctuations in generation capacity and battery charge levels.
