Nippon Paint’s Dungiora E Primer Earns Registration with Japan’s NETIS

Dungiora E Primer Receives NETIS Registration

Nippon Paint Co., headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has announced a significant milestone for its product, the "Dungiora E Primer." This advanced anti-corrosion primer has been officially registered under Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's New Technology Information System (NETIS) as of September 30, 2025, with registration number CG-250006-A.

Importance of Effective Corrosion Resistance

Corrosion resistance is critical for enhancing the longevity of steel structures. Traditional methods stress the importance of thorough rust removal during surface preparation. However, in factory settings or complex plant facilities where the use of electric tools is prohibited due to fire safety concerns, it becomes challenging to completely eliminate rust. As a result, rust often resurfaces shortly after repainting. Additionally, structures located near coastal areas face accelerated corrosion due to salt exposure, necessitating frequent repainting to maintain structural integrity. This backdrop has driven Nippon Paint to innovate and develop products that extend the repaint cycle. In response to these needs, Dungiora E Primer was officially launched on October 29, 2024.

Features of Dungiora E Primer

Dungiora E Primer boasts impressive characteristics aimed at combating corrosion. Its high barrier properties serve to minimize the ingress of corrosive agents, while its unique "rust conversion function" allows the primer to stabilize and enhance the corrosion resistance of surfaces that have rust present. Furthermore, during the surface preparation phase, this product can tolerate residual salts up to three times higher than traditional primers, ultimately reducing the required washing time.

Moreover, the ability to apply the primer over rusted areas significantly cuts down on labor time for surface preparation. With such innovative features, Dungiora E Primer has already been utilized in the repair works of nationally designated important cultural properties, such as the Wakatō Bridge in Kitakyushu City.

NETIS Registration and Its Benefits

The registration of Dungiora E Primer highlights its excellent corrosion resistance and simplification of surface preparation. This not only improves corrosion resistance quality but also lowers lifecycle costs and reduces constraints during construction. By adopting NETIS-registered technologies, contractors can enjoy additional credit points in evaluations during public works projects. Through the use of this primer, Nippon Paint aims to contribute to extended repaint cycles and shortened construction periods.

Commitment to Innovative Solutions

As part of its ongoing dedication to addressing social issues through the development of high-value-added products, Nippon Paint commits to listening to customer needs and continually enhancing its offerings.

About NETIS

The New Technology Information System, or NETIS, is a database system established by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to promote the application of new technologies developed by private enterprises in public works projects.
