About the Judicial Scrivener Profession
Becoming a judicial scrivener is a sought-after career path in Japan, as it entails exclusive responsibilities related to registration and custody services. Judicial scriveners prepare documents for legal institutions, including the Legal Affairs Bureau, courts, and public prosecutors' offices.
In recent years, the need for judicial scriveners has grown due to social changes, such as an aging population and the subsequent relevance of the adult guardianship system, inheritance issues, and trusts. Judicial scriveners are now viewed as
“the accessible legal professionals” in society, contributing significantly to various legal matters.
According to the Japan Federation of Judicial Scriveners Association, as of April 1, 2023, there are
23,059 registered judicial scriveners in Japan. The path to becoming a judicial scrivener includes passing written and oral examinations. The written exam typically occurs on the first Sunday of July, while the oral exam is held in mid to late October—for candidates who have passed the written portion. Clear both examinations and complete the required training, and you will earn your qualification as a judicial scrivener.
Course Offerings and Additional Discounts
In addition to the judicial scrivener course discounts, TAC is also running special promotions for individuals pursuing other qualifications, offering discounts up to
110,000 JPY during the campaign period from
August 1 to November 30, 2025.
