In an inspiring move towards social responsibility and humanitarian aid, the ANTA Group, renowned for its sports apparel, has formed a transformative partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). This collaboration, known as "Moving for Change," aims to uplift the lives of over 300,000 displaced children across Africa through educational initiatives and sports. The partnership was highlighted during the recent Global Refugee Forum in Geneva, showcasing the significant contributions made by ANTA in aid of vulnerable youth.

Over the last three years, the partnership has focused on improving the safety and educational access for young refugees. ANTA has pledged to continue its support for the next three years by maintaining a similar level of contributions. This commitment includes financial donations and sports equipment, essential for creating safe learning environments and promoting wellbeing through play and education.

Christina Li, Vice President of ANTA Group, shared during the forum that the company has invested approximately $1.5 million and donated around $1.2 million worth of sports apparel to young displaced individuals in Burundi, Kenya, and Ethiopia. These efforts are designed to support various UNHCR programs, including "Sports for Protection," which aims to keep refugee classrooms functional during crises, ensuring children remain engaged in learning.

The Power of Sport in Times of Crisis


Reflecting on the company's ethos, Li emphasized the importance of viewing ANTA as responsible global citizens. The brand continuously strives to align its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the UN's sustainable development goals, targeting key issues such as poverty eradication, quality education, and reducing inequalities. "We believe in the power of sport to bring people together, transcending barriers such as ethnicity and nationality," she noted.

In September, Li visited Ethiopian refugee camps alongside UNHCR officials to witness firsthand the impact of their initiatives. The visit underscored the tangible and lasting changes the partnership fosters within classrooms and sports fields alike. For instance, during an event at the Bambasi refugee camp—which houses 16,000 refugees—Li inaugurated a friendly football match, showcasing how sport can ignite hope even under challenging circumstances.

Overcoming Challenges Together


Li pointed out the complexities involved in delivering aid, particularly in organizing logistics and ensuring that donations reach those in need effectively. The ANTA Group collaborates closely with various partners to alleviate logistical challenges, from sorting donations to managing international transport and on-the-ground delivery.

Arash Bordbar, who leads the Primary Impact initiative at UNHCR, articulated how partnerships with companies like ANTA can generate new opportunities for those forced to flee their homes. By investing in education and sports, the private sector plays a critical role in addressing global challenges and manifesting sustainable solutions.

Wu Dan, from the China Red Cross Foundation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the power of collective efforts in achieving humanitarian goals. He articulated how partnerships can mitigate challenges and provide integrated support to displaced children, helping them reintegrate into communities and restore their hope.
