On January 17, 2026, a special event titled "Ryuichi Sakamoto | Premium Birthday 2026" will be hosted at the newly opened 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku, located within the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower. This annual celebration, held on the birthday of the renowned musician, will pay homage to his remarkable work in 1984.

Following the passing of Sakamoto in March 2023, this event serves as a tribute to his legacy. This year's highlight is the screening of the long-awaited 4K restored version of the documentary film Tokyo Melody Ryuichi Sakamoto, alongside a special listening session of his original album Ongaku Zukan, which he produced during that iconic year.

The event begins with the screening of Tokyo Melody on January 16, 2026, coinciding with its national release. Participants will not only enjoy the film but will also have the exclusive chance to hear the original studio quality of Ongaku Zukan using a master tape borrowed from Midi Records. The sound, reproduced on an open-reel tape, will bring listeners an experience akin to what Sakamoto himself enjoyed in the studio, highlighting the advanced sound system, SAION-SR EDITION, installed in all theaters of 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku. This system aims for an unprecedented audio experience, ensuring that attendees can fully immerse themselves in Sakamoto's genius.

Moreover, from January 16, the Main Lounge on the 10th floor will exhibit related works from Tokyo Melody, showcasing not only stunning portraits of Sakamoto from the 1980s but also the Fairlight CMI, an electronic instrument he favored. Access to this lounge will be limited to those attending the screenings.

The special event also features exclusive merchandise from ADAM ET ROPÉ, who will collaborate with the 10Culture label to offer various items inspired by the event, including three types of sweatshirts and two types of tote bags.
