TECO Expands Its Footprint in Data Centers with Major Projects in Malaysia

TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (TWSE: 1504) has recently reached a significant milestone following its acquisition of NCL Energy, a Malaysian mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering company. In a bold move, TECO has secured two major data center projects located in Selangor and Johor Bahru, representing its entry into the hyperscale data center sector. The combined capacity of these two contracts is 178 megawatts (MW), with a total value exceeding 170 million Malaysian Ringgit (approximately 1.17 billion Taiwan Dollars).

Chairman Morris Li expressed that these project awards not only underscore TECO's advanced technical expertise in hyperscale data center MEP engineering but also demonstrate the capabilities of its Intelligence Energy Business Group in project integration and execution internationally. As Malaysia is rapidly emerging as a central hub for data centers in Southeast Asia, these contracts signify TECO's strategic expansion in the data center infrastructure market.

Seizing Opportunities in Hyperscale Data Centers

Holding a prominent position in the MEP engineering sector, TECO has established itself as a leading expert in fiber connectivity for hyperscale data centers. The company is committed to providing robust structured cabling and connection solutions in Malaysia. Among the projects, the Elmina Business Park in Selangor focuses on server room installations and building cutting-edge hyperscale fiber-optic communication infrastructure. Similarly, at Sedenak Tech Park in Johor Bahru, TECO will execute fiber-optic installations tailored for hyperscale data centers. As global tech leaders continue to move forward with the deployment of hyperscale data centers in Southeast Asia, TECO aims to capitalize on these opportunities by offering its comprehensive product portfolio to strengthen its presence in this competitive landscape.

Pioneering Fiber Installation in Singapore

In addition to its activities in Malaysia, TECO's Intelligence Energy Business Group is also working on an innovative data center MEP project in Singapore, where it will install the world's first 13,864-core hyperscale fiber-optic cable. This pioneering engineering effort will enable the client to create a high-speed, stable, and scalable architecture for data transmission, significantly enhancing data center performance. With over a decade of experience in MEP engineering for data centers, TECO has contributed integrated solutions totaling more than 240 MW of capacity in Singapore.

Setting Industry Standards in MEP Integration

Beyond engineering, TECO stays at the forefront of the industry by manufacturing and supplying essential MEP products needed for data center construction. This includes high-efficiency motors, busways, generators, transformers, and switchboards, as part of its modular solutions. The total installed capacity for TECO's data center projects has now surpassed 700 MW across Taiwan and Southeast Asia. As it looks to the future, TECO is committed to leveraging its international project experience, along with robust local teams, to offer reliable, efficient, and flexible one-stop solutions, thereby establishing itself as a notable brand in smart energy and integrated MEP engineering.
