Embracing the Spirit of Paris: Longchamp's "PARISIAN ARTISANS"
In a grand celebration of Parisian craftsmanship, Longchamp introduces the immersive pop-up experience titled "PARISIAN ARTISANS" from July 3 to 13, 2025, at the Daikanyama T-SITE GARDEN GALLERY in Tokyo. This remarkable event, which pays homage to the rich tradition of artisans in Paris, is a collaboration with the talented French artist Constantin Riant, known for his vibrant and poetic depictions of the city that inspired him.
Founded in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain in the heart of Paris, Longchamp has always been a symbol of modern luxury intertwined with creativity and dynamism. This pop-up is part of an international tour set to visit 11 cities around the world, culminating in Tokyo, where guests can appreciate the elegant lifestyle that Parisian artisans exemplify.
As guests step into the pop-up, they are transported to the streets of Paris, where boutiques like malokinarye leather shops, boulangeries, and florists create a vibrant tapestry of local craftsmanship. "Parisian Artisans" aims to evoke the essence of the modern Parisienne, resonating with an aesthetic refined over years of cultural immersion.
At the center of this initiative is Constantin Riant, an illustrator and ceramist based in Paris. His signature color, a deep blue, vividly captures the poetic landscapes of Paris, elegantly reflecting Longchamp's appreciation for the city where it was born.
The pop-up offers various engaging activities, including a photo booth, a special postcard service, and a cozy boulangerie featuring pastries from Pierre Hermé Paris, where visitors can enjoy viennoiseries and drinks. Additionally, an exclusive "Croissant Toile de Jouy" will be available for purchase, along with specially selected bouquets from ALL GOOD FLOWERS. For those who connect with Longchamp's official LINE account, a taste of Parisian summer will be on offer with limited-edition ice creams.
The charm of this event extends beyond delectable offerings; it showcases the capsule collection, "Longchamp x Constantin," as well as exciting new releases for autumn 2025. This collection embodies the evolution of Longchamp’s savoir-faire, with a newly crafted emblem that tells the story of the Maison's heritage. Featuring designs that showcase essential artisan tools and elements reminiscent of travel by plane and boat, Constantin blends the past with the present in a contemporary narrative.
His creative process reflects a deep appreciation for the artisans of Paris, and he aims to create a rich experience that draws guests deeper into the world of craftsmanship. "The collaboration with Longchamp vividly expresses my journey to discover the artisans rooted in this vibrant city," Constantin reflects. The clever use of blue and white two-tone colors in his designs adds a playful element to typography while reminding us of the beauty crafted by artisans and artists alike.
Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s Creative Director, shares her admiration for Constantin’s work: "Upon first encountering Constantin's creations, I was profoundly touched by his love for artisans and his attention to detail. His work is rich in poetic feeling and timeless charm. The emblem he designed for us encapsulates the important connection between art and savoir-faire that we hold dear."
Visitors can partake in this unique experience without the need for reservations, with free admission available every day from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, although cashless payments are the only method accepted. It’s worth noting that early closures are scheduled on July 3 and July 5.
As the pop-up comes to life, it promises to enrich the understanding and appreciation of Parisian artisans and the exquisite lifestyle they represent. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to indulge in this blend of art, culture, and contemporary craftsmanship!
