HyperStrong and LEAG Clean Power Join Forces for Major Battery Storage Project in Germany

HyperStrong and LEAG Clean Power: Pioneering the Future of Energy Storage in Germany

On November 18, 2025, HyperStrong International (Germany) GmbH, a subsidiary of Beijing HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd., announced a significant partnership with LEAG Clean Power GmbH. Together, they have signed an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract aimed at developing a massive 1.6 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Germany. This venture, named the GigaBattery Boxberg 400, is poised to become one of the largest battery storage facilities in Europe, highlighting a critical advancement in the region's energy transition journey.

The GigaBattery project is designed to serve as a key element of LEAG's ambitious GigawattFactory concept, which seeks to integrate various renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind generation with innovative energy storage solutions and hydrogen-ready power plants. The significance of this initiative is underlined by LEAG's commitment to ensuring that Germany has a reliable, sustainable, and secure energy supply going forward.

HyperStrong’s approach entails deploying their cutting-edge 4-hour energy storage system, which is based on the well-established HyperBlock III technology. This advanced storage solution has been meticulously designed for robust performance across diverse climatic conditions, combining liquid cooling technology with intelligent energy management to ensure exceptional safety and operational reliability. By implementing this technology, the Boxberg project aims to provide essential grid services, enable the seamless integration of renewable energy, and bolster energy security in the region.

Adi Roesch, CEO of LEAG Group, emphasized the project’s role in accelerating the GigawattFactory strategy while also laying a strong foundation for a carbon-neutral energy system in Germany. He stated, “Battery energy storage plays a crucial role in balancing renewable fluctuations and ensuring energy remains available when it is needed. Partnering with a technology-driven company like HyperStrong allows us to efficiently and effectively realize this vision on a grand scale.”

HyperStrong brings to the table a wealth of experience and expertise in energy storage solutions. With their EMEA regional headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, they stand out as a premier provider of energy storage systems, boasting a record of over 45 GWh deployed across 400 projects worldwide. This global project execution record emphasizes the company's ability to deliver high-efficiency, safe, and reliable BESS applications.

Within the scope of this partnership, HyperStrong will operate as the EPC contractor, providing a turnkey solution that encompasses engineering design, equipment supply, system integration, commissioning, grid connection, and long-term operational support. Dr. Jianhui Zhang, Chairman and CEO of HyperStrong, expressed pride in collaborating with LEAG on such a transformative undertaking, underscoring both organizations' commitment to forging a resilient and low-carbon energy future. He stated, “This partnership marks not only a milestone in our global strategy but also a pivotal contribution to the renewable energy transition in Germany and Europe.”

The collaboration between HyperStrong and LEAG Clean Power reflects a broader effort to scale up large-scale energy storage capabilities in Germany, a move that the German government has identified as crucial for ensuring a secure, affordable, and sustainable electricity grid. Thomas Brandenburg, CEO of LEAG Clean Power GmbH, stated, “This partnership consolidates the strengths of both companies with LEAG's energy expertise and HyperStrong’s efficiency-driven approach, which is vital as we advance the deployment of battery storage solutions in Europe.”

With energy storage continuing to play a central role in the transition towards renewable systems, this partnership is set to catalyze developments that facilitate a shift away from traditional energy resources toward a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future. Pingyang Wang, Senior Vice President of HyperStrong, shared his gratitude for LEAG’s trust in HyperStrong and emphasized their commitment to delivering a top-quality project that reinforces their long-term presence in Germany while supporting broader energy transition efforts across Europe.

In conclusion, the partnership between HyperStrong and LEAG Clean Power is more than just the execution of a significant infrastructure project; it is a critical step in enhancing Germany’s energy framework and setting new benchmarks for sustainable practices in Europe.
