APP Japan's Educational Initiative at Tsukuba University High School
On July 6, 2026, APP Japan conducted a special class at Tsukuba University High School, aimed at first-year students enrolled in the essential subject of "Global Life." This unique program is designed to cultivate global citizenship among students, helping them develop the ability to recognize and address social issues from a global perspective while understanding diverse values.
For years, APP Japan and Tsukuba University High School have collaborated on various programs, including internships in Indonesia and international symposiums for high school students. This year marked the fifth time APP Japan offered a lecture as part of the school's "Global Life" program, with the participation of Asukura Co., Ltd. and the Japan Ethical Promotion Council for a second consecutive year.
Approximately 140 first-year students attended the session, alongside four second-year and third-year students who will take part in an upcoming internship in Indonesia later this month. The class featured presentations from each company, highlighting their corporate profiles, products and services, business activities, and initiatives for sustainability.
The Japan Ethical Promotion Council presented the results of the SDGs Survey, which students answered in the spring. Asukura introduced their resource circulation platform called "Matakul," while APP Japan shared insights on paper production using sustainable forests. Following the presentations, there was an interactive Q&A session where many students actively asked questions. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including how to approach social issues, the role of companies, and the expansion of overseas businesses.
Feedback from the three presenters indicated that the students asked impressively high-quality questions for first-year high school students. They noted the sharp perspectives of the students, reflecting their research and awareness of global issues. During break times, many students approached the presenters for further questions, demonstrating their enthusiasm for learning and their deep interest in international themes.
APP Japan plans to continue its collaborative efforts with Tsukuba University High School to support the learning and growth of the next generation. By fostering educational initiatives like these, APP Japan aims to contribute—albeit modestly—to the development of human resources necessary for realizing a sustainable society. As indicated by Mie Usuba from the Japan Ethical Promotion Council, who served as the event's moderator, this engagement provides vital knowledge to students on significant global themes and helps shape their consciousness as future leaders.
In summary, APP Japan’s commitment to education and sustainability not only empowers students but also builds a bridge to future generations, paving the way for a more informed and responsible society. Through partnership and continuous dialogue, APP Japan and Tsukuba University High School are working toward a shared vision for a sustainable future.
