Costa Rica's Agriculture Shines at The Global Produce & Floral Show 2025 in California

Costa Rica proudly participated in The Global Produce & Floral Show 2025, an esteemed international trade fair that took place in Anaheim, California, from October 16 to 18, 2025. This event was a significant opportunity for the Costa Rican agricultural sector to display its highest-quality products, consolidating the country’s reputation in the global marketplace.

The Costa Rican delegation made a strong impression by featuring two vibrant national stands. One stand focused on fresh produce that included a variety of tropical fruits, while the other highlighted the country’s rich diversity of tropical flowers and foliage. A total of 20 companies represented Costa Rica, showcasing a plethora of products ranging from fresh pineapples and bananas to cassava, yam, malanga, and ginger. The national stands dazzled visitors with a splendid exhibit of colorful vegetables and an extensive assortment of tropical flora, encapsulating the natural bounty of Costa Rica.

Mario Sáenz, the Export Manager at PROCOMER, commented on the significance of the fair, saying, "This fair served as a strategic meeting point for companies to expand their network of contacts, strengthen existing business relationships, and generate new opportunities in the North American market." The three-day event facilitated numerous interactions between Costa Rican exporters and potential distributors from the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, fostering collaboration in an essential regional market.

The delegation engaged in market visits and promotional activities via the fair's digital platform, enabling them to connect with potential buyers before and after the event. Notably, Roca de las Alturas was part of the Costa Rican team for the first time, joining other companies from various regions, including Huetar Norte, Huetar Caribe, Brunca, and Cartago. Jafet Álvarez C., Vice President of Roca de las Alturas S.A., expressed pride in participating in such a distinguished platform. He stated, "Our participation reflects our company's commitment to excellence, global competitiveness, and the promotion of Costa Rican products in highly demanding markets. This experience inspires us to continue growing and strengthening our international presence, bringing the best of our land to new destinations."

The United States remains a crucial trading partner for Costa Rica, accounting for over 46% of the country’s total trade in 2024, valued at more than USD 9.285 billion. Agricultural products play a vital role in this trade, comprising a significant 17.51% of the total trade value. The successful representation of Costa Rica at The Global Produce & Floral Show 2025 not only emphasizes the strength of its agricultural sector but also the country's unwavering commitment to expand and innovate in the global market.

In conclusion, events like The Global Produce & Floral Show provide an invaluable opportunity for nations like Costa Rica to shine and connect with a broader audience, reinforcing the importance of international trade in the agricultural sector. As they continue to engage with markets worldwide, the future for Costa Rican producers appears bright and full of potential.
