Tokyo's Welfare Campaign: Call for Heartwarming Stories
The Tokyo Metropolitan Welfare Bureau has launched a unique initiative entitled
“The Realization that Someone Has Always Supported Us - Heartwarming Welfare Episodes”. From May 1 to June 1, citizens can share personal accounts underscoring the impact of welfare professionals in their lives. The goal is to highlight the critical value of welfare work, traditionally an essential but often overlooked profession.
Campaign Details
This campaign is aimed principally at those involved in welfare services, including users of these services and their families. The initiative encourages participation from individuals who may not typically interact with welfare professionals, particularly younger generations. The stories collected will help raise awareness about the profession and secure future talent in the welfare sector.
Story Submission Categories
The campaign features two main categories:
1.
Episode Category – This invites detailed accounts of moments when welfare services made a significant difference in people's lives. Participants can share stories that illustrate their experiences, such as:
- A child thriving in preschool due to the support provided, enabling parents to enjoy quality time together.
- A heartfelt connection with staff at a day service that helps maintain normalcy in daily life.
- Words of encouragement from a welfare worker that reassured someone they weren't alone.
2.
Short Phrase Category – This invites concise reflections on small, impactful moments in daily life related to welfare. Participants can share short, poignant statements, such as:
- “The words I received were so gentle.”
- “Having someone by my side made all the difference.”

- - Other finalists will receive catalog gifts worth 10,000 yen.
- - A few selected stories will earn their authors 5,000 yen Amazon gift cards, with an additional draw for 20 participants to receive 3,000 yen gift cards.
