With over 15 years of extensive experience in personal computing and enterprise technology, Petersen's hire comes at a strategic juncture for Sapiens as it broadens its offerings and fortifies its market presence.
The Strategic Appointment
Kellen Petersen joins Sapiens with a robust background in building successful sales teams and a proven history of driving revenue. His prior role as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Sales at KatRisk allowed him to oversee comprehensive sales operations, emphasizing customer retention and launching new products. His impressive career continues with significant influence positions, including a role at Swiss Re as Vice President of Risk Data Solutions, where he fostered revenue growth in the U.S. and Canada.
Petersen's decision to join Sapiens aligns with the company's accelerated strategic initiatives, further bolstered by a recent minority investment from a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), along with the introduction of their innovative Insurance Agentification program and the unveiling of their AI Customer Experience Lab based in Holborn, London.
In his new role, Petersen will spearhead sales across the entire Americas region, taking charge of revenue growth and the execution of go-to-market strategies. His primary focus will be establishing a cohesive sales and pre-sales organization that ensures seamless coordination from initial pipeline creation all the way through to closing deals.

Petersen's tenure arrives at a time when North American insurers face pressing challenges to modernize core operations rather than merely adding new layers of AI to existing legacy systems. He emphasizes that many vendors offer isolated point solutions while highlighting Sapiens' unique capability to replatform insurers comprehensively, allowing for a more integrated approach to adopting advanced technologies.
"North American insurers are under real pressure to modernize core operations—not just bolt AI onto legacy systems. Most vendors sell point solutions. Sapiens is one of the few that can replatform an insurer end-to-end and layer agentic capability on top of that foundation. That's a different conversation, and it's the one I want to be having," said Petersen, outlining his vision for the newly expanded role and his intention to reshape industry conversations.
