AM Green Joins Forces with DP World
In a significant move aimed at positioning India as a leading player in the global green energy sector, AM Green has established a partnership with DP World, a leader in logistics and supply chain solutions. The collaboration focuses on developing a sustainable supply chain for green molecules including hydrogen and ammonia.
Partnership Goals
The partnership, which was formalized in December, aims to facilitate the export of 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of green fuels from India. The key objectives include:
- - Developing logistics and storage infrastructure in AM Green's Net-Zero Industrial Clusters.
- - Building bunkering infrastructure in Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia for green ammonia and methanol sourced from AM Green's facilities.
- - Establishing strategic terminals in the European Union, the Far East, and the UAE to ensure a carbon-free supply chain, facilitating India's transition to a low-carbon economy.
India's Commitment to Green Energy
AM Green is actively leveraging renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green ammonia, green hydrogen, chemicals, and biofuels. The company has set an ambitious target to achieve a production capacity of 5 MTPA by 2030, contributing significantly to both India's net-zero goals and the global decarbonization agenda.
They have already made a final investment decision for a 1 MTPA green ammonia project located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on India's eastern coast. Mahesh Kolli, the founder of AM Green underlines the commitment to India’s vision of becoming a green energy exporter, stating, "We are excited to collaborate with DP World to build a state-of-the-art infrastructure for the global transport of green molecules. This strategic partnership will enable us to export environmentally friendly ammonia, methanol, and other sustainable fuels efficiently."
DP World's Role
On the other hand, Yuvraj Narayan, Group Deputy CEO and CFO of DP World, emphasizes the importance of their role in transforming global trade. They aim to ensure that all operations have a long-term positive impact on the economy and society. Narayan also expressed the excitement surrounding this partnership, indicating that it allows them to utilize their logistical expertise to ease the distribution of clean fuels globally.
AM Green’s Green Initiatives
Founded as a groundbreaking initiative by the founders of the Greenko Group—one of India's leading renewable energy conglomerates—AM Green is building various projects across India aimed at creating a versatile energy ecosystem. The company's focus is not only on producing blue-chip green products but also on forming collaborative technology partnerships that further enhance its production capabilities.
AM Green aims to generate green ammonia on a large scale with a target to reach 5 MTPA by 2030. This capacity will effectively support India's goals for sustainable energy production and will assist in fulfilling the OECD markets' decarbonization efforts through green hydrogen imports.
Conclusion
As both AM Green and DP World align their strategies towards creating a robust framework for sustainable energy supply chains, their collaboration could indeed mark a turning point for India in the global green molecules marketplace, thereby furthering the international agenda for a low-carbon economy.
