Mazda Unveils Groundbreaking Concept Cars at Japan Mobility Show 2025

On October 30, 2025, Mazda Motor Corporation took the stage at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 to showcase two revolutionary concept models: the MAZDA VISION X-COUPE and the MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT. These vehicles embody Mazda's commitment to sustainable driving, aligning with the theme, "The joy of driving inspires a sustainable future," planned for 2035.

MAZDA VISION X-COUPE: A Glimpse into the Future

The MAZDA VISION X-COUPE is a sporty coupe that signifies the next step in Mazda's design evolution based on the KODO – Soul of Motion philosophy. This concept operates on a plug-in hybrid system that combines a two-rotor turbo rotary engine with an electric motor and battery. It boasts an impressive performance output of 510 PS and can travel 160 kilometers solely on electric power, with a total range of up to 800 kilometers when utilizing both power sources.

Moreover, this model leverages a unique carbon-neutral fuel made from microalgae, further enhanced by Mazda's own Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture technology. This innovative approach means that the more you drive the X-COUPE, the more it helps reduce atmospheric CO2 levels.

MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT: Bridging Human Connection

Contrasting its sporty counterpart, the MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT is designed to deepen the connection between humans and vehicles. This model is an embodiment of an empathetic AI-driven experience that merges sensory digital elements with human interaction. The X-COMPACT acts as a close companion, capable of engaging in natural conversations and suggesting destinations, thus broadening the driver's world.

Mazda envisions a future where vehicles enhance an emotional connection between individuals and their cars, creating a heartfelt bond that transcends mere transportation.

European-Spec MAZDA CX-5 Revealed

In addition to the concept models, the new MAZDA CX-5 (European spec) made its public debut, featuring a spacious interior and a refined KODO design. This latest iteration embodies Mazda's philosophy of Jimba-ittai, a seamless unity between the driver and the vehicle. The CX-5 has been a global bestseller, with over 4.5 million units sold across more than 100 countries.

This version of the CX-5 incorporates MAZDA E/E ARCHITECTURE+, the latest in electrical and electronic architecture, fostering an elevated driving experience.

A Commitment to Joyful Driving

Masahiro Moro, the representative director, president, and CEO of Mazda, articulated the essence of their mission during the event. He stated that the phrase, "The joy of driving inspires a sustainable future," represents not only Mazda's core spirit but also the foundation for its future endeavors. Mazda aims to play a transformative role in society and the planet while fulfilling the desires of car enthusiasts who wish to continue driving enjoyable vehicles for as long as possible.

Moving forward, Mazda is dedicated to evolving the joy of driving while emphasizing human values, aiming to provide customers with exciting mobility experiences that bring joy to their daily lives.
