Seven-Eleven Launches Affordable Bento Using Government Stock Rice

Seven-Eleven Introduces New Bento Line

In a significant move to address rising inflation and provide more affordable meal options, Seven-Eleven Japan has launched a new line of bento products made with government stock rice, started on August 5th. This initiative comes from a collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, utilizing 3,000 tons of stock rice from the 2021 harvest.

The lineup consists of ten different bento options available in all 21,562 Seven-Eleven stores nationwide, except for Okinawa. Amid the ongoing economic pressure on families, the demand for reasonably priced meals that also deliver satisfaction is growing. To cater to this need, Seven-Eleven has made six of its staple items, including Gyudon (beef bowl) and Oyakodon (chicken and egg bowl), available at a discount of just 100 yen plus tax from August 5 onwards.
